Hi everyone. I'm going for my nutritionist one on one meeting on Wednesday this week. I know that there is gonna be a quiz that you must pass in order to have surgery. Could someone PLEASE send me a heads up on what's gonna be on the quiz. I really appreciate your help. If you need any help with anything I would be glad to help you as well, if I know the answer to your question or problem. I'm counting on my wonderful OH Family.

Hugs,
~ Marcy ~

Okay so your one more step closer to that big day.. Nutritionist appointment is very important, I thought that I could just track my food and that would be okay for her but I was wrong... They want you to follow the higher calorie food menu in the back of your infamous "blue book".. All of your foods don't need to be exact remember this is just a guide.. But, it makes you get all the correct amounts of protein in. I wasn't cleared for an extra two weeks or so because all though I was losing on my made up diet it wasn't the one that would give me long term sucess... The goal is if you do this prior to surgery when you get out far enough into your " normal eating routine" you will go back to the way you were eating pre-op following those nutritionist rules etc.. If you need anything else let me know.. Again, congrats your doing an awesome job... Nikki

Do you mean the food logs have to show 1100 cal per day?

Bonnie,
The food logs weren't the problem. It's remembering exactly everything in the blue book. But you answered my question with your next post.

Hi Marcy...
Don't sweat it...I had it on 1-09-2008
It's just 1 page. This is what I remember...

The first section wants you to list the first four stages and list a few items you can consume in each.
..see pg 27 of our UCD blue booklet..
The quiz provides the time period so don't worry about remembering how many weeks/days of each stage.
Just remember the order as the list goes in chronological order...on the far left is the column to write the names of each Stage
1 = "clear Liquids"..
2 = "protein liquids"
3 = "puree" (or "blenderized" ..(mushy)
4 = "soft/chopped"
The far right side of that section is to write a few items you can consume in each of those 4 stages.

Daily quatity of fluids = 48-64 oz
and protein grams required = 60 - 80

Size of your pouch = 1 oz (that's the one I got wrong).

What causes dumping...sugar

Also remember the vitamins & supplements required:
calcium citrate with vit D & magnesium,
multi-vitamin with minerals & Iron
B-12

Another question is which can't be eaten together
Note - Multi-vit (because of the Iron) & Calcium must be consumed at diff times

I think another question was the quantity of protein in 3 oz of chicken

Name a difficiency if failed to take supplements...or something like that question I answered "vitamin diffiency"...she then name specific which...I laughed and said "multi-vitamin" deficiency...I'm unsure if she was amused...but she responded the B1, niacin, etc.
(pg 10 of the blue book).

Then there was a couple of other multiple choice questions...these were common sense responses so I don't recall them exactly other than 1 question was circle all that apply.

There might have been a question @ what was my "realistic" weight about 12-18 months post op..
Page 12 has yours at the bottom of the page

Bonnie,
OMG your such a big help. Thank you so much for recalling what the quiz was on. I have read the whole blue book, but would like to concentrate on just what I need to. I don't want to overload my brain. If you have questions or need help in anyway, let me know.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
