Hi Rick,
Congratulations to you,  I know the fight, I had to fight for 5 years, my doctor approved my sons RNY in 2004, but said that I was too old??? Imagine that 50yrs old. So when he left the practice, last year, I asked the new Dr. and she said of course, let's try to get it for you.  I did everything I had to and I was blessed to have had my surgery on Dec. 18, 2008.  I am still on soft/pureed foods, but only for 10 more days then I can eat. I'm alittle scared to eat real food though, but I'll get over that.
This will be the best thing that you have ever done for yourself.  Just take it slow at first and remember 3 things to do after, walk, sip your water and chew, chew, chew.
God bless you and keep in touch, let us know how you're doing OK!!!
                                         Take care,   Donna
PS  What a great person you have for your Angel, I never got one. Diane will be a great help to you I am sure.  Look at her success!

Just make sure when you get to eat, you chew the heck out of the food, and make sure it's soft to start with. Remember if you want to eat chicken make sure it's the dark meat, more moist.  We are here for you Donna if you have any questions when you get there.   Take your time chewing too and make sure, this is really important, it still makes me sick if I forget, do not drink while eating.

Hugs, Diane
