OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!!!!!!
OMG, guess what? Well, last night I got a call from my surgeon’s office and they said that they just received the authorization!!! So I guess I don’t need to get those other three tests and go to the last 2 “diet" classes!!! She asked me what day I’d like surgery on and I said, "our next available surgery date"… so she asked, “how’s Monday?" OMG I was soooooo excited! YAY, I’m going in for surgery on MONDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m so happy and so excited and in such a great mood, I’m bouncing around like I just won the lotto! YIPPY! I was putting it into my mind to just be patient and maybe by March I’ll get a surgery date (if my husband's dealership didn't close up by then). I was trying so hard not to be depressed and anxious over the continued delays. So now this information has just sent me into orbit!! :O)
So my surgery date is Monday January 26th with surgery at 9:30 am!!!!!! WOOT!!!!!!!
Oh yeah, I wanted to ask a few questions….I’m such a baby and my threshold for pain is soooooo shallow….the gas that’s left in after surgery…how painful is it? I’ve had 3 colonoscopies so I only have that to reference with. Is there a way to make the left over gas less painful? Any suggestions? Oh, and what should I take to the hospital with me? I’m going to go buy a big robe and some slippers tomorrow…. Oh, I’m so excited….any last suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Yippy!!!! I’ll finally get to be on the losers bench!!!!!!!! Can you tell I’m excited? *wink*

Congratulations!!!!! I know exactly how elated you are feeling right now! I will be honest....the gas pain was very painful, but the more you walk to faster you expell the gas. Just remember to walk, walk and walk!!!! The only thing I took with me was my robe, slippers, chapstick, and something to wear home (which I wore home what I wore to the hospital). They will have everything else you need, such as toothbrush, shampoo, etc. I will be thinking of you next Monday at 9:30. Try to stay below the clouds until then! *wink*
OMG!!! I am sooooo excited for you. Bring your comfy robe, slippers and your own pillow!!! You will probably feel some pressure from the gas, but don't worry it's not too painful. The most uncomfortable I felt was having that horrible drain. It's just not comfy but can be tolerated. You just need to find a comfy sleeping position. But remember for a speedy recovery; walk, sip, walk, fart (you'll be doing this alot)..lol walk & sip!!
Don't forget to have a fantastic meal on Saturday and get ready for a whole new you!!!

Hi Melissa,
I didn't have much gas pain either. I do remember I could feel things moving around in there while I was in the hospital. I even asked my doctor if he had left his cell phone in my belly; I could feel that kind of vibration going on. I did have trouble sleeping on my side for 5 weeks. I put a bunch of pillows in a line down one side of my bed and just leaned into them. I can now fall asleep on my back, maybe because of the surgery or maybe because I am getting old.
Have a great surgery. Think positive thoughts and all will go well!

Thanks soooo much guys!! I'm so happy I'm crying! What a baby, huh? I was so worried that after working on this for almost a year that my husband's shop (he works for a Chevy dealership) would close up (like so many in the area) and I wouldn't get my surgery at all. So, to get that call last night that not only will I not have to wait for another 2 months ( like I thought) but I'm actually going into surgery in 5 days.....WOW!
I won't have the drain, (thank goodness) but the gas worries me... arg.... I wish I wasn't such a baby lol.
I'm just reading over the instructions and it says to take 10oz of Magnesium Citrate at 5 pm the day before surgery. What is this for??
Taking my pillow....great idea! I have insomnia and have to take sleeping pills every night...i wonder if they'll let me take them at the hospital???
Oh, man, I'm so excited....hehehe

It's to clean you out before surgery so don't be going to many places after you take it. Don't worry about taking your sleeping pills in the hospital. You will have plenty of pain meds that will put you to sleep anyway. Also I think Gas X comes in strips that disolve on your tongue. Also walking after surgery really goes work for gas too.
