Had my psychologist Appt!!!
Alrighty, so I had my appt with the Psychologist on the 14th of January. The appt could have gone better, but it also could have gone a lot worse. We talked about a lot of things, she read my chart and noticed I took the sleep study, asked me how that went, told her I do not have sleep apnea, but that I haven't had a restful sleep in over 2 years. She told me that all of my sleep problems were directly related to depression....I must have had a funny look on my face because she proceeded to tell me that we can be depressed and not even know it. Then we talked about family and my support, and she kinda struck a nerve when she asked about my family life growing up, she caught that, and asked me about it...among other things she asked me if I was an emotional eater, I said yes, I've known that for years. So, she is requiring me to attend a Managing Depression class or a Managing Anxiety Class. Both are 8 week courses...so I am now being held back for 2 months while I attend these classes...She also suggested I start seeing a therapist, however that is not a requirement, just a suggestion, along with attending a some support groups, which I finally found one in the Sacramento Area, so thats awesome, now if I could just find someone to watch my kid on Thursday's so I can attend....hmmm. Well thats about all the updates I have for now...take care!

Sorry about the two month delay but the class will probably be really helpful to you.
I belong to four support groups at two different locations, it's about eight hours a month, but I have found them to be very helpful keeping me focused and on track and I always take something away from the experience.
Good luck with your journey.

Is this the physc exam before surgery. One visit and because you have trouble sleeping, she is saying depression. Trust me on this one, you cannot diagnose depression in one visit, and this person is so good, what kind of depression is she suggesting that you have. I have been many years living with manic depression, and you just don't figure that out in one visit. There is alot that is combined. By the way too, tell that doc, that depression and anxiety are 2 different animals. I don't have anxiety. That is why doctors are only PRACTICING medicine. Sorry that they put a delay on you like that, I don't think you got a fair shake on this one.
Good luck and a hug, Diane

I totally agree with Diane on what she said. Can you go see a different Psychologist? When I went for my exam, I was in and out of there in less then a half hour.
Best of luck to you! And stay strong through this fight to start your new life, it is totally worth it!

I love my RNY! Find me on myspace myspace.com/bebe_girl209 but be sure to tell me your from OH!
I agree with Dianne about not getting a fair shake. I think you should look for someone else instead of waiting another 8 weeks. I was at my Psych. appt for 1/2 hour and outta there. He says he is just looking for mental illnesses that could impede my ability to use this tool, not to keep me coming back to him. Anyway...good luck with whatever you decide to do. Regardless it will be worth all of the inconveniences!
