Janine - great words of wisdom.  I know that it took me quite a great deal of time to come to the decision to have the weight loss surgery.  I wasn't just ready for that level of committment.  Now that I decided and had the surgery, I am hyper vigilant about what I eat.  I've snuck a few bites of carbs (noodles, rice, taters) here and there but nothing regular.  I refuse to eat those types of carbs more than one day a week.  And sugar.......  But this surgery is anything but "the easy way out"  My (snobby) sister and (high and mighty) brother both said as much to me before surgery and last week I double dog dared them to walk a week in my shoes.  To eat how I eat, to prepare everything like I do, to read every label and to write it all down (I have a notebook of everything I've eaten since surgery).  Neither one of them was up for the challenge - go figure.

Oh, and have a blast in San Francisco!  I love it when they send me to school down there.  I'll be in Concord Sunday through Tuesday for fun meetings.

Last night I cooked.  Boy, did I cook.  I made sauce and assembled FIVE lasagne.  1 for the boys on the bridge, one for Joe at home and 3 in the freezer.  I will send two home for Nick and Siobhan.  I was very tired last night.

Michelle I am so sorry to hear about your friend.  Treasure your memories!
Back to work for me.

Thank you for your words of wisdom Janine.

And Michele, I'm so sorry for your loss.  I'm shocked how quickly it happened and I wish you strength and comfort during this time.

Today's been busy.  Up early taking my son's car in for a brake job, then off to his orthodontist with him to get an update on his treatment plan.  We were originally told this process would be completed by 19 or 20 and now he's staring down 21.  Poor kid was born with only 13 adult teeth, so we're going through quite a process to try to save what he has and then plan for bone grafts and implants.

So now we're waiting for the call from the repair place so I think we'll go out to the Ecological Reserve and get an easy walk in.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday!

Janine,
It was nice to "almost" meet you at lunch.. We will meet next time.
I understand what you say about not sleeping. I have to take Ambien everynight, and sometimes I can sleep and other times it doesnt work. Dr said I could take
1 1/2 if I needed to, but I will tell you, I do "strange" things on 1 1/2. I try on clothes, I exercise NAKED on the bed, I was caught one night in the pantry eating CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRIES!!! (didnt throw up, but I wish I could remember how they tasted, so I know if I enjoyed them!!)
I also understand about feeling down about what we cannot eat, but I am some what of a newbie and cannot believe I have to go thru those feelings for years, as you have! eeeegads..
I hope you have a terrific time in San Fran, I will be up there in May for a college graduation. I have only been once and loved it then.
Chris: Thanks for doing the weight loss numbers, you are a kind person.
Michelle: I am truely sorry for the loss of your friend. I know it is very difficult.
Nikki: Not sure abut Feb Lunch yet, but will have to let you know. I "MAY" be having my Kaiser Weight Loss Class over to teach them how to cook "tasty and healthy" food so they dont feel deprived. (They told me that they think I deprive myself and that is why I have lost the amount of weight that I have, so I am going to prove them wrong. Going to make them rolled tacos made with Lavash Bread, Pizza w/ Lavash, Un-Fried Fries, and maybe Mousse... Soooo NOT deprived!
I hope you all have a fabuuuuu night,

Sweeny you need to go to your doctor and tell him that you are doing these things on Ambien. You are not the only one who I know that do these things in the night and not remember. Just ask Rhonda!

I have this other friend that told me all the stories of waking up with food all over herself too. It could be very dangerous...so I would strongly suggest you talk with your doctor and get your meds changed. There might be something else out there that would help you better sleep.

It is a common known fact that this is a side effect of Ambien!

Janine, No truer words will ever be spoken! WLS ain't for sissies", Is my new motto! And have a great time in SF I get over there about ever 6-8 weeks just cause I can. And it is a cheep getaway for me. I only have to pay $25.00 for my room...and I park my truck and use public transportation because it is just so convenient. I have always wanted to live there but I never could afford it.

Michelle, I am so sorry about your friend..
