Fiber One

It seems to me that in my literature from my surgeon's office before my surgery they recommended going light on fiber.  One of my favorite evening snacks is yogurt and Fiber One which has 14 grams of fiber.  I noticed since I've been eating it the past couple of days though, I've had some pain in my left side and been a bit constipated. 

I have my one-year follow up appointment on Feb 20th, so of course I'll ask my doctor, but can anyone tell me if they ever eat Fiber One or fiber supplements and if they have any problems.  Any input would be greatly appreicated.

I eat alot of edamame, and it is very high in fiber.  There are days when it is ok, and then there are days when my left side feels like it going to explosed.  But I certainly don't have any problems with being constipated.

Call your docs office and ask him why they are asking you to go lite on the fiber?

Wow!! I thought I was the only one that gone pains on my left side. What causes it? Does anyone know?

If it is high up, its because that is the area that first holds the food from the emptying pouch.  It hasn't reached the stomach digestive juices yet..so it is working a bit harder to move softened, but not dissolved food thru the intestine.  The digestive juices and bile meet up a bit later.  Hope this helps.  I have discovered spasms happening there due to peristalisis..it feels just like a baby kicking!!..I love it.  Last night I had everyone watching my tummy...we cracked up...which made me start hiccuping..lol  The pain could be from too many different foods, foods not fully mushed or rapid passing into the small intestine....best wishes and happy digesting!
