How did you know it was going bad?  Symptoms?  Pain? Location of pain?  I want to know it all.

Sharp stabbing pain feels like you are being impaled with a hot poker.  Mine was upper abd radiating to right upper abd with radiation around the back and up between my shoulder blades.
There is a pneumonic called, fat female and fertile or fat femal and forty. Hope you are feeling better.  I suggest that you try eating low fat and food. I survied on apple sauce and non fat yogurt.

RIght there with Liz.  I had my gall bladder removed right out of college, but had symptoms for 1 year and no one could figure it out. They all thought  I was too young. (Phen Fen weight loss result, but I guess they ignored that)  I had some misguided doctors who told me very crazy things for why I was doubled over on the floor. I have never had a heart attack, but that's what I thought it was. WORST PAIN EVER!!!!! Even worse than labor if you ask me.
Liz is also right that high fat foods always triggered a reaction.  My mom finally found a doctor at Cedars in LA.  He asked me a few questions (had some tests) and I had surgery 2 days later!! I do remember him asking me if my urine was darker.  (I think....it was awhile ago) and it was. Hope this helps. Stinkin' gall stones.

Mine is with some other medical waste somewhere.  I had pain off and on for a year, I kept telling the doctor something was wrong, my right side felt large and didn't feel like my left.  Only after Doug went to the doctor with me and he told the doc, "Hey she is sick" did they do something.  I had a really bad vomiting, run to the bathroom, pain on right side below my ribs above my waist did it cause Doug to get pissed.  Needless to say, I was better when they took it out, easy procedure, and never have felt that way again.  It does happen when you lose weight, very common, and Liz is right, stay away from fatty foods.  It's a good test to see if you are having gallbladder problems.

I am right there with you guys. I lost mine because of losing weight way to fast. I was on the Nutri System diet back in the early 90's. My pain would start in my mid back and radiate to the front middle stomach area. I would break out in a sweat and just vomit for a half houn or so. When I would go to the ER they seen my liver enzymes were out of wack and thought I had Hepatitis. Couple days later they said I didnt but they couldnt figure out was going on. I presented all the symtoms of a heart attack but they finally did an ultr sound and found it. It was removed and the problem went away.

Have a great day

My gallbladder has a simple columnar epithelial lining characterized by recesses called Aschoff's recesses, which are pouches inside the lining. Under the epithelium there is a layer of connective tissue (lamina propria). Beneath the connective tissue is a wall of smooth muscle (muscularis externa) that contracts in response to cholecystokinin a peptide hormone  secreted by the duodenum There is essentially no submucosa separating the connective tissue from serosa and adventitia, but there is a thin lining of muscular tissue to prevent infection.

Ok sorry, I had to do that..............just being a smart arse.

I haven't had any problems with mine, thank goodness.  Now Harley had to have his out when he had the RNY because they said he had stones, but he never had any symptoms.  I know the pain is on your right side and can radiate through to your back.  If you think there's a problem, PLEASE call your doctor.  My sister had to go to the ER with her's several times before they removed it.

Might be nice to credit your source rather then appearing to be adopting this as your own words.

I could be wrong, but me thinks they call that plagiarism. In this case citing this isn't even likely legal. You'll note at the bottom of the page wherein it reads as follows:

"All other elements are (c) copyright NationMaster.com 2003-5. All Rights Reserved."

Just saying...

Otherwise advising this person to seek a doctor's care is sound, good advice.

Interestingly, a subset of patients having had their gallbladders removed continue to present with similar symptoms post-op. Postcholecystectomy syndrome really isn’t all that uncommon.

Here's an interesting article from "The American Journal of Gastroenterology" if you or anyone else might be interested.

Rockne:

I emailed Lola privately to let her know I was being a smart arse and she took it all in good fun.  I didn't get the information from the site you named, so it's obviously been quoted several times using those exact words on other sites.   I also assumed most people would know those weren't my own words because most people don't just spout words in that way.

Most people who post here know me well enough to know I'm studying to be an RN and I was just trying to make a joke with Lola.

I also told her she should see a doctor.

Here so you don't get upset with me again is the site I plagiarized

Wow .. sounds like someone needs a sense of humor transplant.

First of all, like she said, the gall bladder has been described exactly that way in so many different arenas, that just simply deciding which one to give credit to would be a daunting task.

Second of all, Wikipedia is a public domain source of information, and therefore not subject to the same standards as print materials.

Third, she didn't claim the words as her own.  It's like when you ask a question of someone, and they recite information that they learned.

Finally - I think everyone else already realized it was a quote that was done as a lark.  They laughed and moved on.  You simply could have done the same thing without being a jerk about it.

These forums are supposed to be for the education and support of weight loss patients, not a place to attack someone who was just trying to be funny and helpful.
