Has anyeone stayed in Sacramento area after surgery?

I am just wondering if anyone has stayed in the Sacramento area after your surgery.  I will be having my surgery in March/April hopefully and I live 5 hours north of Sac.  My doctor wants me to stay no more than an hour away from the hospital for a week after.  I am just wondering if any of you know of any low cost accomodaions.

Whom is your doctor? My doctor is Dr. Waldrep and his staff gave me a list of  hotels to stay in.

Dr M Ali at U C Davis is my Dr.  They have not given me a list but I have not gotten my surgery date yet.  Perhaps they will when I get that.  Thanks for your response.  Even tho I have been on OH since last year I have not posted much on the boards but I have read some.  Now that I am closer to my date I feel more at ease about posting.

The Red Lion Inn, in Sacramento, off of Arden way. Actually you get to it going through the Arden Mall. They have given me great prices, I've stayed there quite often. If you tell them the Hospital recommended there hotel they will give you a discount. When I first stayed there it cost me about 120.00 a nite, that was a couple years ago. Since then, now they advertise 99.00 special BUT like I said if you say a Hospital in the area recommended it to you, they have given me rooms just lately for 69.00. Really nice place has a restaurant and two or three swimming pools with hot tubs. Can't beat that. I've always had a good experience there.

Hi, my DH has been in the hospitality industry for years, and has worked at most of the larger hotels here in Sac....Pm me as you get ready to make reservations.  There is a "Extended Stay" hotel right off the freeway by Arden Fair Mall...You can take the freeway, or really the streets, to get to UCDMC.  You might be more comfortable with a microwave, fridge ect...Take care...
