Need quick answers Magnesium Citrate?

I need some advice.  My surgery is tomorrow morning at 7 am.  I took my full bottle of magnesium citrate at 2:30 this afternoon.  I became so nauseous, that I COULD NOT drink water for about an hour.  I was petrified I would vomit.  I have been drinking water continuously since.  However I have only gone to the bathroom ONCE and that was that.  It has been 6 hours and not much happening.  Should I expect a lot more, if not, then what should I do?  After searching the boards, everyone has said, that it 'really cleaned me out', but I am doubtful it is doing much.  HELP?  Advice?
I have to leave for the hospital at 5 AM, so no talking to anyone beforehand there.
Thanks!

I used magnesium citrate for my plastic surgery on Dec. 30th. I drank the whole bottle and didn't go too much. But I had the runs earlier in the day so didn't think too much about it figuring it was all out. Well let me tell you I had a very bad experience. When I woke up from surgery I could feel poop leaking out but could not stop it because of the epidural. It was so embarrassing. I was pretty out of it and kept saying I was sorry I was making a mess. My nurse (who was male) was very nice about it and cleaned me up and told me not to worry about it. When I checked in the hospital they asked me if I drank 1 or 2 bottles. So I am guessing 2 bottles are necessary. If I have surgery again I will go back to what I used for my bypass surgery. I was slick as a whistle.

Good luck on your surgery, Michelle

First of all, congrats on your surgery tomorrow.....

I wish I had a concrete answer for you but I can only guess and that is not a good idea. If you have the after hours contact for Dr. Suh's office, I certainly would call and ask. I am sure they would not mind the question as it will be benificial to both the doctor and you.

Good luck

Rick

Thanks all!   I so appreciate your answers.

Whew!  The mag.cit. started working EIGHT hours after I took it.  And working good! I am so glad I did not wait unti 5 pm as was suggested.  (took at 2:30) At least I hope I will be done with all this before we leave for the hospital in the morning.
