We're Engaged!!!!
Yes, it's true! I'm engaged!
I was "unoffically" asked a few weeks ago, without ring... but we got a ring yesterday and it's so beautiful!! I'm so giddy, just beside myself. I honestly didn't think I would ever do it, or anyone would have be honestly. But I have grown so much with my Sweetie, it's amazing. We have been through SO much together, I love him so much and don't know what I would do without him. :)
We've been together almost 9 years now. (Long Story Short) We went to High School together, I had a HUGE crush on him, he was 2 years older. We "knew of" each other but didn't "know" each other.
Almost 9 years ago I was on our HS webboard and we were talking about "crushes" and I said his name, and we were just being stupid girls, but anyways, HIS friend saw the post and told him to get on there, lol Well, he emailed me and just said YOU'RE SO BUSTED!!! hahaha!! So, since our first date on June 5, 2000 we've been together.
I'm just so happy. Just had to share :)
No date planned, probably a year or so, need to get some bills paid off first.
Ok, now question. Does anyone know of a good book on how to go about all this stuff, preferably in a cheap manner? We're not doing any traditional wedding or anything like that, more like a party with someone marrying us (we're not religious)... but I mean as far as invites, announcements etc go? I don't know what to look for! I know there has to be a good book or 2 out there on the subject. :)
Thanks for listening!!!!

Crysti,
Congratulations! How fantastic for the both of you. I am really happy for you. My hubby and I got married in our backyard in 2001. We had a most beautiful day and did things reasonably. I had previoulsy been married and he had not, so we didn't need the big expensive wedding thing.
We hired a caterer who did BBQ, the best I ever had. Both my husband and I play music as do most of his family and friends, so we were our own entertainment.
The wife of one of my co-workers was an ordained minister and she did the ceremony. I ordered our invitations on line and we got Hershey candy bar favors which were so cute. I made my own 4 tiered wedding cake (I like to cake decorate.) The most expensive thing about the day was the photograher. I didn't have a professional photographer for my 1st marriage and decided I wanted nice pics. Ron wore a tux but the kind with no tie and he had 2 people stand up for him and I did the same. I ordered my dress and by matron of honor and bridesmaids dresses out of a catalog and they fit great and could be worn by them for work as they were short.
There are many on line wedding planning info sites and that's what I used.
I hope this helps.
Many happy years together for both of you.
Barb

Hi Barb, thank you!!
Yes, that's how we want it, nice and simple and cheap, lol We don't have a bizillion friends so it will be small too.
I'm not just sure about what to do, where to look etc... We're both just curious now what to do, since we finally got the ring (YAY! pics in profile)... so it's really exciting, I can't wait to be Mrs. Stevenson!
Hee Hee!!

Check pout MY Big RedneckWedding on CMT Saturday night. Do anything but what they do there. Its funny as hell but just as pathetic.
My only advice is go to vegas ot City Hall, you'll save a ton of money and be that much closer to a downpayment on a house.
LOL!! Sounds interesting, lol
We already have the house so no worries there. We'll figure it out, we have lots of time, hee hee!!
