Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone out there has been put on Accutane for Acne as I have tried everything and the Dr. has written me a script for Accutane however my insurance does not cover it? I was hoping someone out there has some or knows where I can get some at a cheaper cost as I am on disability for seizures and the Dr.s are only letting go for two rounds of 90 tabs of pills to help my skin they as deep and leaving scars. The tetracycline did nothing. they are like boils. Please someone help me please. My email address is [email protected] thank you,

Dana - My son uses a brand called DORYX.  It's helped him a lot.  It has a higher copay, but my doc gave us a coupon that makes it not so $$.  Can you ask your doc if he has any other options that will be more likely covered.  Our doc said to call back of ours weren't covered and he could try a different drug.  Also, check the manufacturer's website to see of they have any discount programs.  Good luck.

My son was on accutane for 5 months. It cleared his face. Beware that the drug can cause someone to commit suiside. The patient needs to be seen every 30 days. If the patient dose not go to see the doctor on time to get a blood test every month the doctor can not give a perscription. Ask your insurance what alternatie medication do they cover and why do they not cover accutane?
Good luck.   Cathy

I think this is in very rare cases and the tendency has to already be there.

There are a lot of bad side effects with this drug including if you get pregnant you can have an alien, lol

But the doctor will discuss all this with you, don't let this scare you.  It's a wonder drug and can help.

Accutaine ROCKS and is a miracle drug as far as acne treatments go.  I need to go get back on it but my cholesterol was too high to continue a couple years ago.  I'm hoping it's better now.

There is a generic, don't know what it is called though.  See if you qualify for that.

It's a pain in the butt b/c of the bloodwork etc but it's for our own good I guess.

Good luck!

Hi Dana, Accutane does have a Generic form. It's called Isotretinoin. Ask your doc if he can change the prescription. Hope this helped. =)
