I am having an issue and was wondering if anyone knew what to do. I had blue cross blue shield of California health coverage four years ago. I broke my ankle and went to emergency room..bla bla. A billing company is hassling me to pay the whole bill even though I had insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield. I call Blue Cross and cant seem to get anywhere. I think Im just feeling overwelmed...any ideas where to start with this? I cant even find blue cross blue shield address....thanks.

If you gave your insurance information to the ER when you went in, they should have billed your info and received payment if not you need to go and resubmit that information to the hospital that treated you.Call the hospital and talk to the billing department.

Did you have an HMO or PPO?  If you had an HMO, there may be a co-pay.  If you had a PPO there may have been a deductible or co-pay.  If you had already paid the co-pay or deductible, it may be an amout they have to write off.  This is usually the difference between the charges and the contractual rate.  You should call the hospital and find out what exactly these charges are for.

Hope that helps

I have had these kind of problems before.  I have found it is not Blue Cross but my HMO that is the problem.  It is the medical group that I belong to that doesn't like to pay, so the hospital bills the patient.  The insurance pays the medical group but the medical group doesn't like to pay the hospital.  Nice huh.

Yeah, I get the same BS from BS!!! Having the same problem getting them to pay bills from the Urgent Care when hubby got hit by a car on his motorcycle.  I now have the BS direct number saved on my cell phone!   Have had billing issues with the HMO numerous times.  They seem to not send the bill to the insurance just directly to me and I know the cards are on file because they make a copy of it at EVERY visit.  And the  HMO group that has it in their system that we have two insurances when we have only had BS for the last ten years!!!  We have this conversation after every visit when they send me bills they dont want to or have not processed with BS. Try going to mylifepath.com, its the BS site, register a complaint and watch how fast it gets fixed!!!

Try calling the employer that provided the insurance to you.  They would have contact info for you.
