No sugery date yet, Bummer!

Well, we are back from our trip to Sac.  I did well on the Psych Eval and got 100 % on the nutrition Quiz.  I owe this fourm a big thank-you for helping me pass that quiz!  You guys were a great help!

Back in Dec I had to have an Angiogram because I failed the stress test.  So Dr. Ali wants to have the cardiologist at UC Davis look at the fiilms for that and give his go ahead or no go ahead for the surgery.  I hope and pray they don't find anything else.  During the angiogram they found 2 secondary arteries that were blocked.  The Dr at that time said he would not put any stints in because the secondary arteries your heart just makes new ones and goes around them.  At least that is what he told me.  So, they are going to check this all out and get back to me on Mon or Tues. 

So, for now I have to wait. The Psych Dr told me that they were most likely gonna move my tentative date up from April because I had all the pre-op stuff done.  But apparently she didn't know about the thing with my heart tests.  However, if the heart Dr clears me then I will have a date this week and that is what my goal is!  I would love to be all done this by April!  Of course I know that it will just the be beginning of my life but at least we will be in the next phase! 

Sorry for my ramgling I am tired!  We got up at 4am to come home this am and I am bushed!   They told us about this wonderful program they have for people who travel to UC Davis from a long distance.  They have a Kiwanis House that people can stay for 40.00 a night and it is nice!  Just like a hotel.  Plus you get your own fridge, there is a full size kitchen you share with 8 other people, they even give you some food!  So they offered this to us for the week that we have to stay in the area after surgery!  They also let us stay there last night, and that was a Big Blessing!   The weather was horible for traveling this time but we made it safely!

Ok, I am done now, but be sure that if on Mon/Tues I get a date then I will be letting you all know!

Sorry to hear about the heart issue. But at least all your pre-ops are done and the nutri quiz and psych eval went well. I'm happy for you! Your gonna get good news next week. I'm sending good vibes for this to happen. I go up on the 20th to see Dr Ali for my 2nd consult. Hopefully after that I will be able to schedule surgery for a sooner date. I can't wait for this appointment, seems so far away but I know it's 2 wks away. Take care..

Thanks for your words of encouragement!  I don't want to think anything negative right now.  I want a date!  But on the other hand if there is something that needs fixing with my heart, I would much rather them find out on this side of the surery than to miss it and wish they hadn't.  One thing I have learned about UC Davis is that they are thourough!   That is a good thing for the patient!  

So, is your second consult with Dr Ali the pre-op?  Cuz they told me that my next appointment if there were no hold ups with the heart would be the pre-op with the Dr and the surgery always takes place the following week.  Just asking cuz I am getting excited for you too!  Once we get to this point our mind is made up and we can't go fast enough!  Can you relate?   I'll bet you can!

From looking at the paperwork I have from the tentative surgery date. I will have a 2nd consult, then pre-op and then its surgery time. I'll let you know what's going on.

Oh!  My paperwork never said anything about a second consult, but what you said made me wonder.  When i was there for my appointment, the Psychologist told my husband that Dr Ali would meet with us at the end of the day.  But after my nutrition appointment they told me that everything is on hold.  I wonder now if that means an extra trip for us to Sac for a second consult if they give me the go ahead.  Oh dear this has been so confusing at times.  I am not gonna worry my head over it right now.  I am just hoping my heart is ok and that we can proceed.  If not, then I will be thankful they caught it on this side of the surgery!  btw, thanks for your help on the nutrition quiz!  You were great!  And I will definately will be rooting for ya on the 20th!

Sorry about the heart issues but really glad that you found out.  Yes your heart finds other ways for the blood to get there.  My dad did not have  heart bypass because where he had his heart attack at, that part of the heart died and the rest of it found another blood supply.  That was 18 years ago, today he is as healthy as any 60 yr old and he is 88 going strong.

Thanks everyone for your support!  It means a lot when it comes from people who know and have been there!  

Keeping my fingers crossed so that all will go well for you and even if you have to wait until April to get your date....they are just making sure you will be okay for surgery. I know you want to have this surgery to be heathy, but they want to make sure so surgery will be smooth sailing. Remember Rome was not built in a day!!!! Good luck and I am glad everything else is going smooth too!

Yes, you are right and I do want them to find whatever is wrong if in fact there is something wrong BEFORE surgery and not during or after.  But it is hard to just hold still and wait!  But I will and in time i do believe I'm gonna get there.  Thanks for your encouragement!
