Greetings all,

I am now 5 days post op and have been doing great. No nausea, vomiting, problem with liquids been smooth as sil****il today

Doctor said I need to take Vitamin C 500mg 2x a day to promote healing. Well I took it today between meals and I have had nothing but problems. Feels like I am just plain full, kinda like a big gas bubble just laying there ready to explode. Took a Gas X strip and it did nothing.

Just ate some soup and thats staying down but I am just nor comfortable anymore........Any ideas??

Thanks................Rick

I'm not a doc but personally feel you would heal better with protein shakes. I usually recommend protein loading the 6 weeks prior to surgery and then the rest of your life. But that's me, one of the old time believers in protein shakes....not soy, we don't absorb soy, but the pre-digested whey ones.

Vit c with your iron is good.

I don't know because I still can't find my medical degree, but what about that ester-c?

Rick,

If you are allowed apple sauce, cottage cheese or something similar, maybe SF pudding, crush up your vitamin C and mix it in that.  You probably just need something to line your pouch with  because of the acidity in vitamin C.

Have you tried Zipfizz drinks. They have tons of vitamin c, tast good and you can just sip em.

Anyone tried Ester-c ?  I wonder if it is easy on a new post op patient?

Hey hun, I hope this is getting better for you..

I know that I am still having a problem getting in all my protein vitamins and liquids in.. My Dr. took me off the Calcium Citrate and the Iron for now, to help me as I was getting full with eating all the chewables and not having room for other things as well..  It is getting better, but still struggling..

Make sure all your vitamins are CHEWABLE, and take them slowly..

I hope all is going better for you..

Hugs,
Jenn
