Ok Folks,

I know everyone is different, but I do so value all of your opinions. I have received a tentative date for RNY-LAP on 2/26/09, and I should be home by the weekend. So, Should I  plan on sleeping in my bed right away or should I plan on sleeping in my recliner for a few days ?

All Input Is Welcome

Thanks
Doc

Why plan?

When you get home, see how comfortable you trying to get into bed.  If it seems very uncomfortable, sleep in the recliner.

Bed.....with lots of pillows to lay around you and tuck under you to help you get into a comfortable position.

Ack!  Typed this once, but the system just deleted it...let's try this again.

Hi Doc,
Since you are having a lap, you maybe comfortable in your own bed; however, I slept in a recliner for about 5 days after surgery, but I did have an open.  I like to sleep on my tummy so basically the recliner kept me from trying to roll over which...ow...ow...ow!

Take Care,

garweeg.gifAre you sure this will work?

I had NO pain after surgery, so climbed into my bed, and praised God!  I love my bed!  LOL

I was on the couch.  I tried the bed, but like to sleep on my side.  That was uncomfortable.  I would try each night and time in bed got longer each time.  I also had a pillow in the car, when riding.  I held to stomach.  It helped with the road bumps.

I went to my bed. It is the most comfy place ever.

When I came home from the hospital, no pain meds, stayed downstairs for a few hours and then headed up to bed.  I didn't sleep in anything else but the bed, except now since the shoulder surgeries, that is all I sleep in.  I keep trying the new bed, but my back just aches worse in bed.  But for my lap RNY....the bed was great.

Good luck, and congrats on your date.

Hi Doc,

I have had two laproscopic abdominal surgeries (gallbladder and rny), and did very little pain meds afterwards as I didn't feel the need.  In both cases, I slept in the recliner for acouple of days as it was really difficult to bend at the waist from a lying down position.  That being said, I tried it after several days and was able to sleep in bed for a while and came back into the recliner and each night I was able to sleep more comfortably in bed longer until the recliner was just for sitting in again.

Good luck with your surgery, we're here for you.

I slept in my recliner .  .  . but then, I fall asleep in my recliner half the time anyway!  Wherever you are comfy . . . but since I sleep on my stomach, the recliner was much better for me.  Wonder why I can sleep easily there - but even with a stack of pillows in the bed, I can't sleep on my back!

Chris

Good luck . . . we'll be waiting on the bench for you.
