I so agree with Steve. This weekend my mother came to visit and she was awful. I got new pants and I was dancing around in them and my husband said you look hot and my mother said "they make your stomache look fatter than yesterday". It took me a second but I realized I could let her ruin my joy with her nasty remark or I could go on enjoying the feeling of looking good and feeling good in those pants. I very nicely told her that was rude and that what she said did not matter to me and went along my merry way. That felt so good. Dr. Phil says you know when you are over someone when you don't hurt anymore. So February 15th 2009 was the day I was done letting my mother hurt me forever. It is a wonderful feeling. I can still complain about her, but she can't hurt me anymore.
Then the other side....
Several months ago I was tossing out clothing and my husband said aren't you going to keep some so you have clothes when you gain the weight back? I was hurt, but then I realized he has been with me a long time and saw me go up and down and all around. He was being practical. I told him his words hurt and he felt horrible and apologized to me. I forgave him for he knows not what he does sometimes, he is a man. I understand where he is coming from. Now him and I laugh together at my Bat Wings I call my war wounds. I am very proud of them and I have earned them and I wear them with pride.
So that is my take. But my favorite thing is MO's idea ROFLMAO
Katt,
Even the best man suffers from a terminal case of "foot in mouth" disease. Matthew may have felt he was being supportive in that he did say you would be close to your goal at that time. So, maybe giving him the benefit of the doubt might take some of the hurt away. If not, a good kick in the shins, probably will do the trick!
Remember, everyday you get closer to your goal.
