just a warning about anti-depressants. many of them will pile on the weight. be careful and pick and choose carefully which one you take.

a pill doesn't have to be the answer to depression. get outside. feel the sunshine on your face and arms. walk along the beach. the ocean air is invigorating. walk, play. do what you can. but get out of the house and into the outdoors. it is very uplifting. i know someone who has aids and twice a day he goes outside for a walk around his building and breathes in the fresh air and feels the sunshine on him and it always makes him feel better.

Wow - so lets begin and the beginning :o)

The scale showing a pound up means nothing at your stage of the game.  As others have said, it fluctuates so much early on.  I know it can be discouraging to see that number go up - but believe that it is very likely not real 'weight' change.

There is a very big difference between feeling depressed and having clinical depression.  Everyone feels depressed at various times in their life, and it can make everything more difficult to deal with.  Not everyone experiences clinical depression.  It is very important for you to find out (a consult with a psychologist/counselor) which depression you experienced/are experiencing.

Regarding you stopping your Cymbalta - did you step down in dosage gradually?  It is VERY, VERY, important that anyone stopping these types of medications to follow a gradual plan (set out by their doctor) when stopping.  Otherwise you can have some significant and difficult effects.

Please know that you are worthy of time, attention and care for yourself.  You have made the huge step of WLS to improve your health, physical and emotional life.  Now you need to believe that you deserve to feel better, do more and achieve what you want and need in life.

Take care and feel free to PM me if you ever would like to.
