A Week To Go (Just My Thoughts)

Next Thursday is the big day for me. It is a strange feeling I wanted this for along time and in a short 4 month time I have gone from not thinking about WLS, to having it, and changing my lifestyle.

I don't feel anything either way about it. I don't feel excited as many of you have, I am not afraid of the surgery or the change, It is just something to do on my calender next week. I have bought my protein powder, my scales, my blender, my vitamins & supplements, changed over my scripts to liquid or chewable, everything is ready.

It might be that since late October, I have been on this site (OH) 2 or 3 times a day, and I have lived through many of you the up's and down's of this procedure, and lifestyle. It is like in a small way I had the surgery already. I know it sounds a bit strange, but part of the reason I stay on this site is because of the raw emotions that are shared here. I have learned allot from all of you. I know at times there are lines drawn in the sand here, but I have learned just as much from the Great People on the DS side, as I have from the Great People on the RNY side.

There is a saying I learned a long time ago, I changed it a little to fit this decade, but it still apply. " Every Man, Women, & Child Is My Teacher, So That I May Learn From Them"

You have all been my teachers for the last 4 months, And I look forward to continuing to learn from all of you.

Thanks & God Bless

Brian

Wow the time has gone by so quick. That's a good thing having everything ready a week a head of time, great job. I wish you an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. I go in tomorrow to see Dr Ali for a 2nd consult. I'm hoping to walk out with a different surgery date. April is so far away to me. But anyways my surgery will get done. Take care and good luck on your journey.

Hugs,
~ Marcy ~

Way to go for getting everything in order before the surgery.. I only have ONE major advice.. TAKE YOUR VITAMINS and don't follow my mistake..  Starting the day after surgery and for the rest of your life..

I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers..

Hugs,
Jenn

Hi Brian,

Congrats on your upcoming surgery my friend and we will pray for an un-eventful and speedy recovery. I can relate to most of what you have said. I fought for my surgery for a long time and it seemed everytime I got close, something happened and it got postponed or cancelled.

I got all my products several times over and I didnt get excited until a few days from surgery and thats when it finally sank in...LOL

Everyone on this board is great. Alot of knowledge that can be drawn from and real life experiences that can be shared. I am only 13 days out and what few issues I have had, the people here have shared their experiences and what worked for them to solve it. Its almost like having an instant support group.

Have a great day..........Rick
