5 months out and have questions

post surgery until about 4 months if I ate too fast or too much it would almost always come back up.  Now I am finding that I am able to eat more and because I 'm not bringing the food back up, I have to really concentrate on eating slow so I won't eat too much.  Is this normal for being 5 months out.  My weight is coming off a little slower. (I think I know why. I haven't been getting as much water down because it has been so cold)  I only drink water or milk w/ my shake in the morning.  I also need to up my exercise to what it was before I was in the Hospital.

Sounds like you are just now teaching yourself to slow down your eating.  This takes a while to get as a habit.  I hate, hate, hate barfing.  So, I had to start learning this skill early out.  Increasing the fluids and the exercise should help.  Make sure you are getting all the vitamins you need throughout the day.  Taking pills is a reminder to take a drink and keep yourself hydrated.  Hang in there your doing really well.

Gina,
I am also 5 months out and I STILL eat with a baby spoon and a SHRIMP FORK!!! I have to teach myself what a SMALL BITE is, and this is seeming to help. I have never barfed and I can honestly say, I DONT WANT TO KNOW WHAT THAT FEELS LIKE either!!!!!
Wishig you all the best, Hugzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz,

I'm 7 months out and still have to watch how slow I eat.  I use a time at home to slow me down.  If I get distracted it still comes up because I've eaten too fast.  In a way I hope I don't lose that, it's a nice self-check.

Measure your foods and don't go for seconds is how I'd deal with it.

Hope that helps,
