Hi Cali Board!

I had surgery on January 13 and so far I have lost about 30 lbs.  Although this number is really good, I am a bit nervous because I havent lost ANY wieght (my weight fluctuates within the same 2lbs) in almost 3 weeks.  I dont understand.  Is this normal?  I am eating according to plan and I was expecting to lose weight every week.  Can anyone give me any feedback on what is happening and tips on how to speed things up?  I am getting really discouraged by this and I dont want to go back to any bad habits because of it.  Thanks for your support and encouragement.

Hi Deena,   I am sorry you’re having a touch time, but hang in there….it will pay off in the long run. I know my body does wired things…I’ll loose, loose, and loose then I am stuck playing with the same two pounds..but then it will start up again.   30 pounds is GREAT…that is just over 4 pounds a week.

You are doing FANTASTIC!!! JUST KEEP IT UP!!!
  Hugs, Michele

Hi Gus
Please explain 'cardio'...is this like muscle resistence?  I don't belong to a gym but either walk my dogs a mile everyday or do 1mi on treadmill. Thanks for your time explaining ^_^

Hi there...I'm referring to walking fast, stair master, aerobics, etc.  Anything that will make you sweat, increase that heart beat, etc.

After WLS, I did lots of cardio and once I got rid of all the excessive fat, I began to incorporate weights.

Good luck

They call them stalls.  It happens to everyone and more than once within this jouney.  Beef up your exercise, eat more protein, less carbs drink extra water, anything to break the stall.  I am not sure you could go back to any bad habits right now so soon after surgery, you will end up feel pretty bad or sick.  So just make some tweeks and you should be ok.

Good Luck, Diane

I don't think I'm losing weight very fast either and every few days I stall or actually gain a pound or two.  My dr. said EAT MORE PROTEIN.........

I am in the same boat.  It seems that no matter how much I work out, that I am losing VERY slowly.  I am annoyed but not discouraged.  I know it will continue to drop, even if it is slow.  I am sticking to what my md says and I totally understand your feelings.  When I did Medifast in the past, I have lost weight faster than I am now, but it always came back on.  I figure as long as I am eating right, exercising and drinking my water, that I will lose all the weight eventually and I will be that much healthier in the long run.  Even the turtle whens the race in the end....  Since surgery, I am losing about 3.7 lbs a week, so even when I stayed the same weight for 3 weeks, I am still keeping that average overall, so just keep trucking and know we have all been in ht esame boat at one time of another and we all had our weight continue to come off and you will too.  I totally get how annoying it is to lose slower than you expected but at least it is coming off and with every step of exercise you take, you are moving towards a healthier, slimmer, new YOU!
