I work nearby, I'll just pick it up on my lunch hour....not really interested in walking the expo

you have to go sometime during the expo to pick up your packet. there's a lot of cool stuff to look at, running gear and such...

lucky!  I wish I worked/lived near there so I wouldn't have to drive down, drive back, then drive back down in the morning.  I'll have to figure something out.  See ya there!!

Hubby and I have been registered for quite a while now.  Lola caught me on Facebook months ago and challenged me to train for the Half Marathon.  I'm SO excited about this.  In 1998 I completed a marathon in Portland Oregon with only three months of training (I ran the first 5 miles and walked the rest) I weighed 60 pounds MORE than I do now when I completed it.   I remember hitting that 13.1 mark for the Half Marathon and thinking how easy that distance would be.  I know I'm ready for this.

My father was a marathoner.  I don't even know how many he completed.  When I was cleaning out his storage, I found a pair of brand new, unused running shoes.  My father was not a tall man....maybe 5 ft 4 in and about 140 pounds.  I tried the shoes on and they fit perfect.  So I've been training in them.  It may sound silly but I  feel very sentimental about completing this event "in his shoes".

Oh no, not at all!!! My father loved riding his bike, he even commuted to work on it. When I rode a century bike ride (100 miles) a year after he passed I carried his picture in my back pocket.

I'm so excited for you, you got running in the blood....you're going to do great!
