Antelope Valley Support Groups?

Can anyone guide me to a support group in the Antelope Valley/Santa Clarita area where there is a professional moderator? Maybe one where a surgeon, professional counselor, or at least a nurse moderates?

The group I've been attending is full of well-meaning WLS patients. But there are no professionals there. (It was recommended by High Desert Medical Group, but they have nothing to do with it.) They don't have set agendas -- it just sort of goes every direction at the same time.

The WLS patients have lots of good ideas, but some of them are kind of loopy or very specific to the individual WLS patient who is doing the talking (who has other medical problems besides having had WLS).

My surgeon's office sponsors a support group, but it is way too far away for me to attend.

There is a meeting on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 in Lancaster. It is at the Luthern Church on Ave J just west of Challenger Way. It does have a professional moderator.

We have a monthly meeting in Rosamond (3rd Saturday) at 11:00 in the clubhouse of Trade Winds Mobile Estates. I am not a professional but I have been trained on OH. The other leader is a CCMA and is extremely knowledgable on WSL issues.

Feel free to call or send me a message for more info.

LIsa,
I do not beleive that there is always a professional moderator at those meetings. I used to do those but when my mom became ill it was too much to bear.

Liz,

Trisha moderates the group and she is a lisenced professional. I'm not sure how long ago you were there but I know Trisha has been doing it for awhile.
