Is anyone here a Kaiser member who had surgery at Pacific in San Diego?  I am finishing my last Options class at Kaiser this week (woohoo!) and am wondering how long the wait is to schedule surgery or how far out they are in scheduling for surgery.  I am anxious to start my new healthy life and I feel like I've been waiting for soooo long....

I have 7 more classes, but I already attended Pacific Bariatric's seminar, it is also mandatory if you are having surgery there. I went to the seminar on Nov. 24th and they said for Kaiser patients it takes about two weeks after they get all your paperwork faxed over to get your first appointment (you will see 3 different Dr.'s that day) then about 4 to 6 weeks after that you will have surgery. If you haven't attended their seminar yet just go to their web site and there is a list of the dates and you sign up on line to attend.
I can't wait untill I only have one more class!
Good luck! Melisa

Yep... I've done it all (seminar, support group, labs, ultrasound, EKG, faxed in the Pacific paperwork, filled out the Kaiser paperwork).  I am just waiting for my last class tomorrow and waiting for Kaiser to do their part with the referral so I can make the first appt with the surgeon/psych/nutritionist.  Hopefully they are on it at Kaiser so I can get my appointment ASAP...

The 7 more classes will go by quickly... good luck!

Congratulations for finishing your classes! I went to Pacific and I had Dr. Zorn as a surgeon. He is very nice and very competent. I had a mix up, when I finished my classes but its true, once you finish your classes and get your referral from Alex (in Fontana), you can call Pacific and tell them you need to schedule your consult. They will schedule you to see the surgeon, the psych eval, and the internist all on one day. From that day it is usually about 2 weeks, sooner or longer depending on your availability until your pre-op appt and then surgery!! Whoo-hoo! What I liked about Pacific is the hospital, Scripps Mercy is awesome and right across the street from where the doctors office is! I had a private room and my husband stayed with me all 4 days/nights. Usually Pacific wants you to stay 3 days inpatient. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions or I can help you with anything else just let me know!

Congratulations on finishing your classes.  I  did not take the classes, but I believe once you finish and your paperwork has been submitted and approved, everything else will go very quickly.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

I had mine is 2006 and I have Kaiser.  At that time, I waited about 3 weeks before I saw the surgeon, psycho, etc.  Then, the surgeon had to review my tests and then I  had surgery like 6 weeks later.

I graduated from Kaiser Options program on April 15th, and had surgery on June 3rd.

From my understanding 4-6 weeks is about the norm.....

Congratulations!!!! You also have a great surgeon...I finished my classes in mid April of 2008 and I was the first in my group to have surgery and that was May 30, 2008.
