How's Thursday going Cali?

Hi all,

Just wanted to check in and see how things are going around Cali. 

I am feeling the stress and pressure watching my mom cope not so well with a low dose chemo treatment she's trying. Her oncologist told her she wouldn't get the typical chemo side effects, but she is and it sucks to see her so miserable. She's having an increasing amount of pain where the largest tumor is. I feel so helpless. I am so used to being in a position to solve problems, but I can't solve this one.

I may also have to take Family Medical Leave in a week and a half from work to be with my mom. My mom's brother has been here for 4 weeks and needs to go home so that leaves me. My mom might not need someone, but she might. It's horrible timing as I am hiring a new person around the time I'll have to be on leave. My most senior person is someone I just promoted and she doesn't know all the components of her new job much less being able to train someone. I'll just have to let it go, won't I?

I am sorry things are so stressful. I remember watching my brother die of cancer and it was horrible. You know you are in my thoughts and prayers!

My DH and I are going to go to Fresno this afternoon. We are going to do some shopping. We are both a little tired so I hope we don't end up be mean to each other.  This is the only time we have to go though.

Well that is about it here. It is really pretty outside but the wind is really cold. I am grateful for the sun shinning. We had some nasty thunder yesterday afternoon. It woke Devan up from her nap it was so loud. We got some good rain though.

I posted a very long post to this earlier today and somewhere, somehow it got lost.   Hmmmm

You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Take your FMLA and try to enjoy the quality of time you have with your mother.  Work will be there when you get back.  Your family should always be first but I think you know that.

I'm so sorry your Mum is having to go through all of this. You and your whole family are in my thoughts and prayers. We are all here for you if you need anything at all. I hope you do go ahead and take the family leave. Spend the time with your Mum. I agree with Annette, work will still be there. I believe, you not having to commute to work everyday, will help with some of the stress your having, it won't take it all away, but at least you won't be having to deal with that. Sending you big HUGS your way. I so wish I could say or do something that would make things easier for you.

Thanks all for the kind words. I talked to my mom about taking leave and she's telling me that doesn't make sense, but I don't think she understands I can't just pop in and out of work to take her to appointments. If I worked close to home I could. This weekend I am going to take my calendar over to her house and find out all her appointments and determine what's best for me so I can take care of her.

I am so glad the weekend is almost upon us!!
