Problems with Dry Skin

Hi Everyone I have recently noticed that my skin is getting really dry and rough feeling. Especially on my hands, legs and scalp. I have never had a problem with dry skin before. Do you think I could be lacking something in my diet? Do you think it could be hormonal? Is this normal after having surgery? Or do you think I am just getting old? Rose PS I am in denial about getting older. Last year at Disneyland my friends and I bought t-shirts that said we were never gonna grow up and you know that Mickey wouldn't sell it unless it was true.

Rose, Try to push the fluids. I had the same problem and was told it could be from getting dehyrated. Deb

Hi Deb You know I was thinking just yesterday that I probably need more liquids every day. I don't get much plain water in. When I drink cold water or a cold drink of Isopure or Crystal Light, it makes my tummy feel a little funny and then I get the runs. I have been drinking a protein smoothie in the morning, a large mug of mint hot chocolate and about 3-4 cups of hot herbal tea every day. I am gonna try drinking some plain ho****er with lemon and see how that feels in my tummy. Thanks for not saying that I was getting old. Hugs. Rose

Hi Rose. NORMAL. You are sooooo normal. Good old H2O should help. Winter weather, anesthesia and lack of fluids can all be the culprit. Also treat yourself to an at home scalp treatment, & body massage. Since I go in the pool 5 days a week I use moisturizer every time I come out of the water. If I didn't I'd be 1 big scaly mess. You aren't getting older and neither am I. I finally figured out what I want to be when I do grow up. RETIRED. Elissa

I so enjoy your wit!!! If the cold hurts your pouch, keep the warm stuff handy. For quite a while I had to have something warm before I could do anything else. You will find out what works best for your pouch before you know it ... AND then it all changes once again!!! Life is never boring post-op!

Hey Rose, I had the same problem so I don't think it is hormonal. The dermotogist had me switch laundry detergent, and soap. It 's not a problem anymore. Good luck... Worth a visit to the doc to get some recommendations. Rob

I'm over 2 years out and still have the same problem. I went from sweaty everything to dry as a desert! I'm not complaining though! It was a change for the better. No more sweaty hands, etc. I just keep a small bottle of lotion on me.
