The beauty of a woman is not seen through what she wears. It is seen through how she carries herself and the way she doesn’t allow herself to settle. Don’t ever let anyone take for granted the beauty that is within you. Stand firm and know that you’re a wonderful person. Always remember your value and respect yourself. I’m so blessed to have you in my life. Sometimes we all need to be reminded how special we really are!

Happy Anniversary to my Roomie, Tina and me. January 26th, 2004. WOW! How things have changed. Healthy, fit and medication-free. Life is great. Having the courage to have surgery was the best decision I ever made. My tool still works. I was able to loose 15 lbs in the "Mindful Eating" class that I attended in Symrna. 45 miles for 8 weeks was so worthwhile. I follow most of the rules and when I don't I can usually tell pretty quickly. ( I recently ate 6 rigatoni's and didn't hold onto them for long.)
I usually do polenta while everone else does pasta. I've stepped up my exercise program by adding the elyptical for 20 minutes daily. Still keep my journal and get in my protein and vitamins. Saw Dr. Irgau in December, he was happy with my progress and my blood work was good. I try to make a support group meeting every month and often get online for the Bariatric Eating, com Wednesday evening meetings.
Did I say life is good? I gotta give credit to the great Dr's at CHRIAS, PMRI's staff for their continued support. Friends I have met along the way. Thanks to my family, but most of all to ME.

Breathe, sip & walk. Keep doing this and try to remain focused and positive. I kept a log and look back and it sure is interesting. A ounce of applesauce took about 20 minutes to eat and how was I ever gonna get in all these fluids? Breathing was labored, due to the gas they blow you up with when they do laproscopic surgery. Evened out in about a week. Sorry I missed the last meeting. Looking forward to February's. See you there. In the meantime, if you have any questions, post and someone will try to answer. Hey, all -
Just wanted to let you know I'm home from my sleeve surgery and doing well. Tired, but moving around and sipping sipping sipping. The fluids are daunting..... but i'm managing okay.
Can't wait to see everyone at the next Victory support group meeting. It'll be here before we know it.
Feeling better everyday.....

Topic: RE: Need some advice... (From the Women...)
I know that they recommend you being on something so you don't get pregnant, but there's a time frame you have to stop certain medicines. BC and other things can cause you to have blood clots, and it's not a risk I'm ok with taking. It's just scary, and I don't want to do anything that might delay my surgery. I know people have waited longer than me to get it done, so my measley three months feels like an eternity. I've wanted to get this done for a few years, but am just afraid something will happen and cause me to post pone.
Things are getting slightly better. It's not as heavy as it has been, so maybe I'm slowing down some. I've lost some weight recently by going to the classes, but I don't think it's enough to kick start my uterus like this.
Only time will tell.

I never heard this about birth control having to be stopped. As a matter of fact, I heard the opposite...that you should make sure you're on a bc method and double it to make sure you don't get pregnant. I have the IUD in now....there is no way in heck that I'm taking it out.
I'll have to speak with Dr. Irgau now.... my surgery is in March.

I had been put on a progesterone pill to take 16 days of my period, to reduce cramping swelling, and the length of the period. But I had to go off them a month before the surgery.
I wouldn't fool around with the surgeons' instructions. Unless you can call them and ask about a specific medication and dosage, which you can't yet, becasue you haven't seen the GYN yet.
My first reaction to your questions is this: You have been having a period since the beginning of December and the GYN can't see you until Feb 8. Find a new GYN. I called mine and told him I had been bleeding for 3 weeks with cramping, and he fit me into a 2:00 appt the next day.
That being said, changing dr.s now would be a nightmare. So keep the appt. Take the pills for a week. It may help. It just might slap your uterus in the face and make it sit up and pay attention, long enough to get you in and out of the hospital.
The next day after coming home from the hospital after my surgery I had a period. Wasn't "expecting" it, but I'm 50 years old. You never "expect" it at my age. But it just figures. The surgery isn't going to fix all your health problems overnight. You are your best advocate. And the squeaky wheel gets oil!

I'll try to keep this short, but here's what's been going on...
I have had my period almost every day since the begining of December which is the result of my body finally coming off of my IUD I had taken out June 2009. I'm stuck in a dilema. Frustrated very much so, not to mention my husband (poor guy), but mostly because there's nothing I can do about it. Per the obgyn, they'd like to start me on a low dose hormone to just help me regulate again. But... Their next available appt is Feb 8th, and my surgery date is March 15th. Per Dr. Peters' office, I need to stop any type of birth control 30 days prior. That means, I'd have one week's worth of medicine to help stop my period. And the obgyn says their cancellation list is only for prenatal problem moms. So I'd have to call back on a daily basis to check for something sooner.
I really just don't know what to do. The intimacy between my husband and I is really important, and we've tried to compensate in other ways, but it's just not the same.
I've tried to think of any herbal supplements that might make it less, but haven't come up with anything. I don't think the drs office realizes how expensive those "monthly" supplies are either. Being bigger, I have to get those 14+ pads. I'm just frustrated all around. Help anyone?
