Was in LSD last week and couldn't believe how cold it was.....and the wind!  Go to the Rehoboth Mall and walk it.  Six times around is a mile!  The stores there are not very appealing so little distraction

Hey B.J.

I am new to DE..well kind of.  We have been at Dover for about 3 months now.  I am very tired of the cold. We just came from Texas.  Had my RNY in 2008. I am a walker and I just cant bring myself to go and walk in this cold.  If you have a WII the WII fit and WII fit+ are both really good exercise.  I do them when my body allows me too.  I have bad back and hip problems.  I was wondering how you were tested for your Fibromyalgia?  Sometimes I think that is more what I have!  Doctor gave me script for Celebrex but it upsets my stomach as I have Ulcers.  Anyway hope this helps.  Michelle

Leslie Sansone walk fit video is a nice one.  I'd do the old Tae Bo videos if I could get a hold of em.  The new ones are over the top, but the old ones really do the trick without overkill.  Also, check out Gilad Bodies (free on cable/direct tv).  He's simple, consistent and offers strength training (at home) that will build muscle and burn calories.

I hope this helps.

I find that on the RNY board I don't get responses to my comments.  I'm wondering why.

I went to Dr Danyo for a consult, he took pics at my first visit which I felt uncomfortable with considering I hadnt even made a decision on using him as my surgeon.  His quote was very high too.  I used Dr Benjamin Cooper at Brandywine cosmetics, He is in the Medical Arts Pavillion at Christiana Hosp or on Foulk Rd.  He did a WONDERFUL job on my TT, breasts on the other hand... I need to go in for a 3rd revision.  :-(   But if you are looking for Ins to cover you would have to do the work, they were more of a cash only practice.

The weather here in lower slower DE, that is.

I am bundled up like the Michelin Tire Man and still freezing.

What are you guys doing for exercise these days? I can't afford a gym membership . . . and there's no way I'm going to try to brave the outdoors for walking right now. Can you recommend any good DVD's or tv shows that I can exercise along to? I'm a novice *****ally can't overexert myself without paying the price a day later (due to my fibromyalgia).

But I started the year off with a commitment to get back on the horse, so to speak, when my weight gain reached 191 on Jan. 1st (my highest since RNY in summer of 2004). This morning I was back down to 186 and I want to keep this momentum going.

Hope you all are staying warm and behaving yourselves!

BJ (the same person who will be whining when it gets hot and humid this summer LOL)

Topic: Missed you all at PRMI
We had a great session at PMRI last night.  Gabrielle, the Registered Dietitican at PMRI, conducted an interesting and updated session.  Couple of things to keep in mind from recent studies.  Those with the most success attend support meeting, keep appointments with the nutritiionist and doctors, keep a food diary, and exercise.   Those people that followed the guidelines lost more than 127 pounds on average over a five year period, vs. 100 pounds for those not following the guidelines.  Also follow up care is much more important for gastric banding.

Good way to start the new year!

Michelle,

I think a lot of us go to the Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery, or otherwise known as CHRIAS.  There are 3 surgeons there who do the WLS and although Dr. Wynn did my surgery on September 9th of 09 I would highly reccomend Dr. Peters or Dr. Irgau as well.  The entire staff is very knowledgeable and friendly.

They are located in the Apex building in Newark, DE.  I know that's a bit of a drive for you, but I think it would be worth the trip.  I don't have the phone number ofr the office on me at the moment, but if you want it just send me a private message and I will be happy to provide it.

Hope ou are settling in well at Dover and if you ever need anything don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks,
Kris

Good Morning,

I was wondering how long ago you had your surgery?  I had mine 2 1/2 years ago.  It was done in Texas.  We just moved to Dover a  few months ago.  You are so lucky to have a doctor tha is following up with your abdominal pain.  My doctor in Texas who is supposed to be one of the best in the country, pretty much blew off my pain.  I asked about exploritory surgery and he just wanted nothing to do with it.  I went to three different doctors and no one could figure it out, and again I felt like I was just being passed from one doc to the next.  Finally a Gastro doctor put me on Bentyl, and that helps some what.  I am going to need to get set up with a WLS doctor here soon.  Sounds like your doctor would be a good one.  Where is he located?  We are on Dover AFB and they dont have one here.  Anyway, hope your pain gets better and they figure out what is going on!  Have a great day!  Michelle
