Topic: research - revision surgery
About 6 years ago my dad had gastric bypass, sadly he is starting to regain weight (he told me a pound a year, looks like more), and found that the Doctor who did it did not do things right, and has had compilations. My dad went to another doctor to get information on a revision. the doctor told him that he can not have a revision, never heard of this has anyone here heard of this.
I am have gastric bypass Jan. 11th, and recommend to my dad to talk to the CHRIAS doctors and see if they can help him out.
also a question from me: i was told there are 2 different bypasses a 20% (or possible 30%) bypass and a 60% bypass, I don't remember hearing anything about this, any information?? My numbers could be wrong, when someone (not a docotor) told me about it I had never heard of it.
anyone with information I would love to share anything with my dad, thank you

That is why you look for surgeons who work with a certified center of excellence, like our great surgery team at CHRIAS. We have a first class team in Delaware.
Topic: Support Group at Victory next week!
There is a meeting on Tuesday at 7pm, November 17th at Victory. Everyone should plan on bringing a favorite recipe to share with the group. Besides being able to sample some good food, we will also be gathering the recipe and creating a little recipe book for post-ops. Come on out if you've never been. Come on back if you are looking for a great way to restart your journey. Hope to see everyone.

Ginger, Thanks for doing this post. I think everyone needs to hear the real deal on all surgeries. We here all the good but no one wants to talk about the negative. of the choices we make. There are some very good doctors and some really suck . I can't agree more some are just after the money. I beleive surgery is a very good tool. We have to work it . This journey doesn't stop after surgery and we need Drs with very good aftercare and willing to step up and help when things go wrong. All I can say is do your research. You will learn the rest of your life. Thanks again. See you lighter. Joanne

Topic: CHOOSING A BARIATRIC SURGEON
I realize many people come to this website for support and help in deciding if they want to have the bariatric surgery, and maybe help in choosing a Dr. PLEASE, choose your Dr. well! Last week I saw my oncologist, and while waiting in his office, met a woman, who 6 yrs. ago, had RNY surgery, in Salisbury, Md. Though she's lost over 400 lbs., she's been very sick, ever since. She is now scheduled, in Baltimore, to have it corrected, as it wasn't done properly! Her Dr., is no longer permitted to do any bariatric surgery, other than the lapband, in the State of Maryland! HELLO, THIS SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING! BUT, is now doing surgeries, in De.! Also, any Dr. *****quires an upfront fee ($2500.), uncovered by ins. and payable the first Dr. office appt. to cover use in a particular gym. You can state you have your own gym, and will be told "that's okay, but you still have to pay the fee". This Dr. is NOT looking out for you, but his own pocket! There are also websites, in each state, that you can check to see if ANYONE has a criminal record, cases against them, or pending cases. 7 yrs. ago, I went to the same Dr., for general surgery, and for that reason, and that reason, alone, when I had my lapband, 6/16/09, I went to Baltimore, a decision I will never regret! PLEASE, THIS IS YOUR LIFE & YOUR FUTURE, CHOOSE WISLELY!!!

Don't worry,
usually after you've gotten all of your clearances and have had the final appointment with the MD at PMRI and he ok's you for surgery then the ladies at the office will submit for approval.
Remember: What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas!
