Hi Everyone,

I know to the people that have had their surgery 3+ years now you know who I am, for the newbies, I've been around for a long time....lol.

I just stopped in to say HI and to let you all know that I getting ready to take a trip to a destination that will make me the proudest mom in the world.  I leave on Oct 7th for Parris Island, SC to see my son graduate from Marine Corp basic training on 10/9.  I am jumping out of my skin with excitement.  He left on 7/12 and besides a 15 sec phone call on 7/13 I haven't spoken to him or heard his voice since then.  I've had 5 letters in 2 months (he's not a writer).

The job is AWESOME!!!  I love working from home and have been on commission for 2 months now and love the pay.  I am getting ready to move to Bridgeville, DE to a house instead of the little apartment I've been in for the past year.

Life is good for me and I've been blessed many times over.  I thank God everyday for the awesome job He sent me and now with the house.

Hope everyone is doing good.  I miss you all very much and someday I will get to a support group meeting again.  My schedule is off on Tue, Wed and Sat, so I can make a couple of meetings now, I just hate to leave downstate, I love it down here.

Talk to you soon,
Deanna

Joanne, Denise used the code hammond09 and it would not take that code to register.  We'll have to pay the $50 registration fee.  She reserved a room for us for the $109 rate.   We are looking forward to this trip.  It will be our first OH convention.  We will leave Friday morning and come home  Sunday.  Will you and Debbie be at Victory tomorrow night?  Planning on being there.

Chapstick. A robe that buttons or opens/ties in the front, as you'll be hooked up to IV's. Socks. A pair of loose sweatpants to wear home.

Leave all of your jewelry at home -- I forgot to do this and then worried about the whereabouts of my engagement ring -- the hospital will not assume responsibility for anything of value. Also don't take walkmen, ipod, etc. for same reason.

I overpacked, didn't touch the magazine or book I had taken along, the room had tv and phone and I slept quite a bit from the pain meds.

Good luck!

I brought two night shirts (I was too big for regular size hospital gowns and too small for the larger ones)
short sleeve robe with a pocket (you will be walking with IV's, tubes, and all other kinds of things hooked up monitor ur heart. The pocket on the robe came in handy for the heart monitor)
Gas-X
Chap stick
Pair of socks
2 pair of panties
deodorant (u probably won't feeling like bathing in the first 24hrs)

Hope this was helpful.

Good luck!

Hey Ms. KBell5!

Not over packing is right on!
For me, I had to be at the hospital at 5:30am so the clothes I wore to the hospital, I wore them home.  (as soon as you get home, you're gonna want to put on your pj's)
pack basic toiletries, very basic
Chap stick
a robe (I wore their hospital gown)
slippers
any of your medicines and or C-pap machine

Don't pack any books or magazines, the anesthesia makes it hard
to concentrate.  Plus there is a TV in your room.

Here's a good tip:  When your nurse comes in to check your temp and bp in the middle of the night make her/him get you up to walk or once their round is done they'll be back to get you up!

Good luck!
