Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.  I called the obnoxious Cardiologist, cancelled all my scheduled tests and FIRED HIM.             I have an appointment with Dr. Adeleke next month.  Looking forward to meeting him and getting whatever tests are necessary scheduled.

Cardiovascular Associates of Delaware has an office right next to Chrias. That's where I went, except I went to the Dover office.

So true Judy.    This morning I called the other cardiologist, cancelled the tests he ordered for me and FIRED him!   Then I called my surgeon's office and made an appointment to meet with Dr. Adeleke.  I see him next month on the 15th.  Really looking forward to the appointment!!  Slowly but surely, things are falling into place.

Hi Nina,
Sounds like you have some good choices for your heart doctor.
I used Dr. Marmo, He was very quick to give me an appointment, did an EKG and stress test.  Cleared me with no problems.  Don't settle for less than the best!
Good luck!
Judy

Check with the Dr you choose to see if he will accept the other Dr's stress test 1st. No sense in waisting time & money.  Will be worth the phone call.  When I had my knees done in Philly, I had to get a Dr there to see me cause they wouldn't accept the stress test from Delaware. Also they wanted a DR on staff in case there was any issues. Pastore has both the treadmill and the nuclear stress test in their office near the hospital in Christiana. I scheduled fairly quickly. There was a 3 month wait for Adeleke and the other Dr.  Took me over 9 months to get all the clearances and classes in.

 Hi Elissa.

Oh my!  Now I have such good choices.  I'm going to have to make a decision fairly soon.   I like your idea about having the new cardiologist schedule the tests. but as far as the stress test is concerned, that's scheduled for this thursday, so I'll go thru that, but this week I'll be making an appointment to see either Dr. Adeleke or Pastore and have them schedule the sleep study, if they feel it's necessary.

OOps I forgot to mention,  No wait for Dr. Pastore or for Dr. O'Brien either.

 Thanks Ellen.
You're the second person who has recommended Dr. Adeleke.  Looks like he's the guy for me!  And thanks for the advice on bringing a book to read while waiting.  :-)

Nina,
I saw Dr. Pastore. Glad ro see he made the Chrias list. My 1st trip to a cardio DR,  just to get clearance for Gastric bypass almost 6 yrs ago now. Dr. Kelly is my husbands DR.  Pastore was extremely positive, young and good looking. He suggested the stress test and cleared me for surgery. My BMI was 61.0.  I think I'd drop the dr you saw if he is that misinformed. He could hurt your chances of getting the insurance approval for the surgery. Sorry you wasted the money on him. I wouldn't let him schedule anything if he is that negative about Gastric Bypass.  Let the new Dr. handle any tests you need.

The sleep study was not needed as I already had seen a Pulminologist 10 yrs prior and sleep with a CPAP machine.  I see Dr. O'Brien to get my clearance. He was also very positive and extremely friendly. I did have a 2nd sleep study 2 yrs post-op and found that I still have apnea, however,  the numbers dropped in more than half.

No more high blood pressure, IBS  or Cholesterol meds any more. I am healthier than I ever have been since high school.

This is not an easy decision to make. You will find that having positive people around you will make journey easier. Keep asking questions. Get yourself to some support group meetings. That is where you will find alot of information that can help you make the decision that is right for you.
