Topic: RE: New here surgery in two weeks
Yeah, prior to my surgery I had five co-morbities. I was living on borrowed time. Now life is great, and no co-morbiities. Now I spend most of my time brooding about how to come up with the money to run a marathon in Bermuda.

I am sure that you have heard about all of the lifestyle changes you will have to make post-op. I know that you have a great doc. Let her help you make a decision and do whatever feels right to you. In the long run it is going to be all you and you have to live with the decision that you make.

I'm 100% positive now that the bypass is for me, I'm just feeling a little weird about calling them again and switching, meaning that they'll have to send all new referrals. Thanks for the response!!
Topic: RE: Mindful Eating Class
I went to the information class in Smyrna on Monday. I got the impression they were going to pick people who have gained weight back after WLS and kept up with follow-up appointments. I don't qualify since I didn't have my surgery in Delaware but I went to get information for my group. You can pay and take the course online too. I would love to see more courses like this offered locally to all. See you lighter. Joanne

Remember it is your life and you have the right to decide on your care. Beleive me there is no easy way out. Do your research and decide what is best for you. Only you know for sure. What is best for someone else is not best for you. Be your own advocate. See you lighter. Joanne

As all of you know, making the decision of which surgery to get is a hard one. Your doctor can reccommend one, but the end decision is usually up to you. I've been going back & forth between the band & the bypass (the only two my insurance cover). I recently found out that I have to start all my appointments over because clearences only last 6 months. They had to send all new referrals out, & they put on the referral that I want the band. Now I've changed my mind (for the 3rd time) back to the bypass. I was discussing it with my Mom & she said that she thinks I was thinking I was taking the easy way out with the band & that I would have more success with the bypass. Now, I have to call & change my surgery again & they have to send new referrals. Are they going to look at me weird because I've changed my mind so many times?
In my opinion, I'd believe that they get people who are undecided all the time & switch a few times, I just don't want to be the odd ball.

Camden Walmart had the SF RTD carnation instant breakfast in both choc and van, that was a couple weeks ago.

Welcome to the board. Things should start moving quickly for you now that you are under two weeks. Dr. Irgau saved my life, and has been great in post-op support. Being scared is ok, because the RNY is a life-altering event. Having your wife's support and experience will be great for you. Now relax! Remember to get up and walk as soon after the surgery as possible and just keep walking, walking, walking.
Good luck to you.
