Aww Joanne,
I'm really sorry to hear Debbie is having a tough time with the surgery.  Extra protein will help her heal better.  We certainly missed you both at the meeting.  There were a lot of new faces.  Rob made some delicious shakes with his bullet.  My daughter thought the orange pineapple was the best!  Maybe Debbie will be up to it next month.  We miss you guys!

Michelle, Welcome to the Delaware board. We hope to hear from you often.  Best of luck with your move. I hope everything goes well. You will find a support group list on the board every so often. Attend as many as you can. Personally myself I run a group in the Long Neck Area but I attend other groups. The group at Victory in New Castle is one of my favorite. See you lighter. Joanne

Topic: Have you gained since WLS ?
This week while I was in D.C. I went to see a Therapist for a one on one session. They are starting a new therapy group for people who have gained after WLS. I went to the 1st group on Thursday. It is open to anyone and is billed thru your insurance. I am going to go to this every Thursday at 5 p.m. If anyone is interested in going please let me know and I will give the contact information. You do have to do one session one on one.I know this is far to go but I also feel I will go where I need to go to get the help I need. I feel I am so on track right now and I am going to do everything possible to stay on track. Washington Hospital Center has came so far with their Bariatric  Program since I had my surgery there. I did attend a seminar that Kenny was giving and talked about the inportance of support groups. You now see a nutrienist at every Dr. visit and Dr. Koch the gastroligist is on board at the program now too. Before they will even do surgery now you have to see Dr. Koch and the nutrientist for 6 months of weight management. You have to go to their cardiac exercise program for one visit and see the therapist  for an evaluation.  This has all been added since I went into my surgery blind. I had to tell Kenny how proud I was of the inprovements. I know you are thinking by now I have lost my mind but I have very strong feelings about this. When I was looking into surgery I wanted it yesterday. Now I really feel they are educating people before surgery. Iknow I thought my weight problem would be cured for ever. Boy was I wrong. I continue to struggle everyday. Surgery is only a tool. It is up to us to use it properly.  If you are not ready for a lifestyle change you are not ready for surgery yet. I will stop ranting now. I think everyone gets the point. Do your research and learn all you can before your surgery. I never stop learning. See you lighter. Joanne

I would say the dr's office is about 45 min. from the base, maybe a few min. more.  This set of drs. are all about education, compliance and follow up.  I don't know if Dr. Wynn has a satellite office in Dover or not.  I thought I heard one of them did, or maybe it was in Smyrna (15 min. north of Dover)

Here's their website:  http://chrias.com/

We have a great support group in New Castle but I'm sure you'll find a good one in Dover if you don't want to drive too far.

I agree with Judy.  These docs are wonderful and I think you would be happy with whomever you can get an appointment with.  If you just need a check up or want to get established with them, I suggest you call for an appointment several months in advance.

Good Luck,
Ellen

Topic: New to DE Board

Good Morning,

I am new to the DE message board.  I currently live in TX and have been active on that board.  We are Military and will be moving to the Dove AFB the 1st of November.  I had Gastric Bypass surgery in August of 07 and will need a new doctor when I get to the Dover area.  Was wondering if any of you have any thoughts?  I have had lots of problems since my gastrice with ulcers, and my stomach but have managed to take off almost 100 pounds.  So I will be looking for a doctor for scoping too.  Thanks in advance and I hope to meet some of you when we arrive there.   Michelle
