I loooooooooooove it. I won't eat any other bread now. Sometimes you can catch it at Safeway for buy one get one.

I think its moist, taste like wheat bread to me. Has some grains on the top crust.

I toast it with peanut butter and jelly. Have also used it for grilled cheese.

How is the Arnold's double protein bread?  Dry?  Grainy?  Tough?
I've never tried it, but to make bread protein worthy, I'd give it a try!

Now.....you got me wondering....my total cholestrol is in the 70's.  My triglicerides are almost non existant.  I stumped the work doctor.....he told me by BMI was still too high and I needed to lose weight.....but my triglicerides (I know I am not spelling this right) are way to low and I needed to add fat.  He said to me....Go see your family doctor....I dont know what to tell you to do.  At that time, my protein levels and iron levels were really low also.

I went into menopause in January and my protein and iron levels went back to the normal range. Now I only take one iron pill...instead of 3. So I am thinking it is safe to go back to a healthy diet of lower calories, high in protein with lots of fresh fruits and veggies.

My thought is what ever keeps you healthy and works is good for you.  If I eat anything high in fat and sugar, I get really sick.  But maybe my deficiencies are related to this.  Looks like  will be doing another trip to Vitamin Shoppe and more reseearch.

I really don't know anything about DS surgery.  I am pretty sure Dr Irgau didnt mention it when I went in for my first consult.  I was just commenting on how it would make me feel and what it would do to me.  I have had issues with low protein and iron levels....and now with a vitamin D deficiency. I have recently (since January) made a very concentrated effort on eating healthier again and getting myself on track.  Over the last 2 years, I had gained 40 pounds from my lowest weight of 174...trying to get my protein and iron levels up by eating a pound of steak every day .....going all the way up to 219 and now I am back down to 193. It is a lot harder to get the weight off after you gain it.

I am really happy for you to be maintaining your low weight.  You are actually at my goal weight.

No..I know it wasn't your intent to make me nauseated.  :-)  I was just commenting on the fact that if I ate even half of that I would actually be very ill.   I had no idea that one could consume so much fat after having a DS. All the different types of weight loss surgeries are fascinating.

Sorry - I didn't mean to gross you out either!

Please bear in mind that I had the DS and not the RNY.  That's a really good breakfast for a DSer (minus the second slice of toast with jam - that's a questionable choice, as the jam is all simple sugars) as it's all protein, fat, and complex carbs, with protein and fat being almost in equal amounts.  That's actually a "diet" breakfast, since the DS malabsorption will remove 80% of the fat (and fat calories), 40% of the protein (and protein calories), and up to 40% of the complex carb calories (depending on who you believe.  Personally, I don't count on any of the carb calories being malabsorbed, but there are those that do.).  It's pretty low-cal if you count it up and factor in the malabsorption.

And, far from putting on weight, I've been maintaining my lowest post-surgical weight for some time now.  Joanne has seen me in person.  I'm not fat.
