Hi Joanne, glad to see you back. How are you and the Debstar? Hope you are both doing okay.
We go every other year to Hawaii. It was good. Hard to be away that long though. Still have my Mom and daughter, grandkids to worry about.  Mom got worse while I was gone. But my DH and I really needed to get away. So I start back to work tomorrow. At least I think I still have a job.
These boards needed some activity. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Mike, Thanks for the hints on cooking fish. I will try them out. I never heard of the old bay rub but will surely try it.  They were cooking flounder the other day with old bay at work. It smelled so good. See you lighter. Joanne

Of course they are as different as night and day so he will not have as many problems. He is quiet and Alexus is like Debbie. You will have to Kill her to shut her up. Are you interested in doing a support group for people struggling after WLS. I see a great need for this. Beleive me you are not alone. I hear about this all the time. I am thinking about starting one on Monday nights from 6-7pm. Let me know. Email me @ [email protected] or call me @ 945-2597. This is a new phone number. Talk with you soon. See you lighter. Joanne

Nice to see you posting again, Joanne!

I am still here, lurking as usual . . . very depressed about my inability to get my winter weight gain back off. I no longer have health insurance so going for a revision is out of the question. I struggle with having no restriction . . . and sugar doesn't bother me . . . each day is a real struggle as I feel like the food I take in goes right through me, I never feel full. For the first time since my surgery (almost 6 years ago) I really "feel" fat and self-conscious about it again.

Work is picking back up, thankfully, so maybe they'll be enough left over so I can make some better choices with my food budget.

And, hopefully as it begins to warm up around here, I will get motivated to walk outside, etc. I did get my treadmill dusted off and have logged a few miles on it . . . but not nearly enough hahaha.

Joanne,

Tonight it was fish.  Bought a pound of tilapia and had it oven fried.  Simple enough to do - dredged it in flour then dipped in a beaten egg and then coated with a mixture of panko bread crumbs, corn meal and Old Bay seasoning.  Put it on a greased cookie sheet and sprayed the fish with Pam and then baked at 425 for 10-15 minutes.  Had some ****tail sauce with it and it was great!

We haven't had fish steaks (tuna, mahi mahi, etc) lately.  I usually marinate them in olive oil with salt and pepper and then grill them.  Squirt some lime on it as soon as they come off the grill and serve immediately.  It is plain, but very good.  We really like salmon filets and that is usually cooked on the grill on a cedar plank and sprinkled with an Old Bay rub (they seel it at the seafood counter and it is coarse Old Bay with brown sugar - I sometimes mix it up myself with plain Old Bay and brown sugar).  If I am lazy or the weather is really bad I will cook it in the oven.

Now I've gone and made myself hungry.  Good thing it's time to head to the basement and work out.  Have a good night!

Mike

Good Evening from Lower Slower Delaware ! Well it is Monday and back to work for most of us. I have Mondays off. I am doing invitations tonight with kids for their birthdays. Signed all field trip slips and all else. Going shopping after the news. Harris Teeter has Breyers Ice Cream buy 2 ,get 3 free. Will put in freezer for kids party. I'll let them pick out the flavors that way I am less likely to eat it. I have to admit it is not one of my weaknesses now. 5 years ago , It would be on. My weakness now is Milky Ways. Can't have them around me. I am to tempted since sugar doesn't bother me.  I went to TGIF last night with a friend from work. I had crusted parmigan chicken breast. It was to dry for me so I brought it home, put sauce on it and gave it to the kids for dinner tonight. They loved it and I didn't have to cook. I had my appitizer for my meal, coffee and dessert. I know I didn't need the dessert but as we make excuses, mine is how often do I go out to eat and hey for $12.99 you got your appitizer, meal and dessert. Which by the way was very good. Peanut Butter Pie. Makes me want to make Peanut butter Protein Pie. To busy tonight. Maybe tomorrow if I get home from work early. What is all up to ? Whats for Dinner in the neihborhood ? See all lighter. Joanne

Mike I had turkey scapple lately. Wasn't bad but not as good as Rappa. Don't know if you get it up north but Hugh's makes a homemade scapple. It is very, very good.  The farmer we work for : His son goes and gets it right from the factory about once a month. The best ! I think all is good if cooked right. Crispy on the outside and soft inside.  See you lighter. Joanne

Elissa, Hawaii ! I am so jealous. Do you go there every year ? About the bun on not ! I look at it this way. We all make daily choices. Somedays I eat part of a bun but most days I don't.   I really enjoy mine on a plate with condiments or hey I hate to say it but my fingers work well at a BBQ.  Take care all. See you lighter. Joanne

If I had the time in the morning I would make hashbrowns w/ onions, scrapple and eggs everyday.  AS it is, I eat scrapple and eggs just about everyday for breakfast.  In my opinion, Rapa makes the best scrapple.  Any other opinions/suggestions from the scrapple eaters?
