First check-up today!
I have my first appointment with Dr. Crookes today! I'm only 1 week and 3 days out but since I'm off all my blood pressure medication since the day of surgery he wanted me to come in early. I'm so excited!! I can't to see if I lost any weight. I haven't stepped on my home scale at all! I don't have my hopes up too high since I was on diuretics before the surgery and he told me I might actually have a gain from all the water retention. I guess I do still feel a little bloated.
I also want to say that I feel a little guilty for feeling so good! There's been so much talk about complications lately and I feel so horrible for anyone having to deal with that. My only complication, if you can call it that, was one day of feeling overly emotional and crying all day!! I'm basically pain free and complication free. I'm eating great and drinking just fine. My incision isn't even oozing. And I almost want to apologize for it!!
Well, I'll post again after my appointment.

Yay Leslie! Welcome to the easy-recovery group! I'm so glad to hear that you're doing well! Congratulations! Also, I can totally relate to feeling guilty lately. If I could take some of the burden off of those having difficulty, I certainly would without thinking twice. But look at it this way; you're one-less person for all of us other easy-timers to feel guilty about!

Oh how exciting! Please please hurry back with your update. I'm sure you have lost weight, how could you not? But, if you are still retaining water and it shows up on the scale, don't forget that it's only water and you are still losing fat weight.
And please don't feel guilty about your recovery. I think it's very important for everybody - especially pre-ops - to know that recovery can run the gamut from terribly complicated to relatively easy. One never knows how it will go and should be prepared for anything. (I sure as heck hope those words don't come back to bite me in the azz!)
Hope your appointment went well... can't wait to hear the update.
Leslie - please don't feel guilty. When you look at the stats a greater portion of people do well than not with the DS. This forum should be representative of all that the DS can be. Just as we want to hear from those that are struggling we want to hear from those that are doing well. It's all experiences that let pre-op's develop a true picture of the spectrum of possible experiences they may have. This results in better informed decisions.
I feel for everyone that is having a hard time but I think we should also celebrate with those that are not. That's what being a support group is all about to me.
Take care
Ann
