Hijack....oh my Soapy...I had no idea about your husband. Between your post and Haley's post I am sitting here all teary-eyed, and read your beautiful comments out loud to my fiance'. Just around the corner for you now girl, and tell that hubby of yours to keep hanging on! God bless you. Julie

Thanks Julie. He is doing OK for now. In December he had a PET scan that showed some of the lesions on his liver were coming back so they changed his chemo (he has rectal cancer that spread to his belly cavity, including the liver). His initial reaction to it was terrible...so they laid off for 2 weeks then went with a quarter dose. I pray he gets into remission soon. He and 2 of his boys are planning a 3 week trip to Europe in April, we are renewing our vows when he returns and then we go off to Seattle for his youngest son's Med School graduation. A good, long remission sure would do the trick before all that!! Dontcha think?? I read your bio and boy, do we have things in common! You look wonderful and I am inspired by your progress. I hope I can hit onederland as quickly as you did. I am about the same starting weight as you were. I guess it is possible.
(BTW...what does HIJACK mean in the post?)
Hijack means that you are "hijacking" the post away from the original subject, which was Hayley's wonderful news, to discuss another subject, your husband.
It sounds like your DH is working hard to maximize his chances of remission and to live his life to the fullest. He and you must be so proud of his youngest son, too! It sure is possible to hit onederland quickly. My best advice is to stick to protein and veggies at first, and don't start hitting the carbs until you absolutely have to. I have found so many great low-carb products and recipes, that I truly do not miss them. I just started adding in things like popcorn and breading on fish or chicken, but still completely avoid sweets and simple carbs. You are going to do just great, and please know that I am your own personal cheerleader!
