UPPER LIMITE OF CARB CONSumption
You have a lot of work to do. The DS will fix your body at first but you are still obese in the brain. In fact we all are that way. Thats how we got here in the first place. It is very important to work on your mind and try and not crave carbs. Think of the surgery as a tool not a total final solution. Your question seems to indicate that your most important thinking is about how many carbs you still can eat. I think its time for you to move on from there and start your total healing. You need to change completely and the surgeon can't do all of the work for you. Sorry to be so blunt but I think we all need to go through the changes that lie ahead for you to be successful.
I focus on protein and fluids. After that I add complex carbs, fruits and veg. There isn't alot of room for those things. I do have whole wheat bread, crackers and pasta though and if I have them with protein it is just enough to keep me from getting sick of eating protein. If I do without, it just does something to me and I lose my appetite. I don't count my carbs during the day, but sometimes add them up at night when I do the Food and Fitness thread. I don't avoid carbs either, I just have protein first because that's what my body needs. It's a shift in thinking, food for fuel vs. food for pleasure. Protein is my fuel now and it is not negotiable.
I owed it to myself to research the duodenal switch before consenting to any other weight loss surgery and so do you. Check out DSFacts.com and DuodenalSwitch.com for more information. Remember think twice, cut once, revisions are risky and revision surgeons are rare.
