Can you go into the operating room with a French pedicure?

I consider my pre-op pedicure an absolute must.  Can anyone guess what color I get?

When I did the pre-op check, the nurse went over these intructions also. I had just had an American manicure and had a pedicure with red toenails.  I told them I paid a lot of money for this and if they wanted my polish off, they could take it off while I'm "out" in surgery.  The nurse said not to worry about it and I didn't.  And, they didn't take it off either. I have acrylic nails....and I don't want to get rid of them for surgery!  hmpf!

Anyone know if Dr. Marchenisi in Brazil makes you take off nail polish?

Hi,
When I had my surgery in 2006 with Dr. M. he told me nail polish was fine and that they had other ways to monitor.
I was happy with that, especially since I wanted a nice manicure and polish as soon as I got to Curitiba!

Hi,

Good luck with your surgery!! Dr. Roslin was my surgeon for the VSG and I have to admit, I did not see one HOT resident while at Lenox Hill....LOL That was dissapointing!! Oh, the toenails..... I had a french manicure, but no one noticed... It was for me! Really!!!

Hey there!  I had a light color pink on my toes, and a french manicure on my fake finger nails.  I think the only reason they want you to have clear polish is to be able to see if the skin under your nails turns a strange color during surgery, because that's an indication that your oxygen levels are lowering.  I wouldn't worry about it, hun.  Go for it with the glamor!!!

I had a french pedicure and manicure right before surgery and it was fine. Nobody said a thing except the nurses kept telling me I had pretty feet!

Go for it! I had to have good hands and toes during recovery, it made me feel better.
