HI Guys, just wondering what everyone did to celebrate the 4th.
We went out on the boat with friends, had a BBQ on an island and then watched all the fireworks from the middle of the lake. Got home exhausted last night after midnight!!

Hi

I had a great time on the 4th with family and friends a big ole cook-out and kids running all over the place.. It was so much fun!

Oh and thank you for the idea of the stuffed jalapenos Wrapped in thick cut bacon!! I made some and took with me and they were a huge hit!! They were so so good!! I had to stop at the store today and buy more jalapenos so I could make some for at home..I only had a chance to get a couple yesterday. They were gone to fast..

I sure hope everyone enjoyed there holiday as much as I did!!

Lucy

Sounds fabulous!!

I celebrated in the middle of some truly beautiful Nowhere Friday night with some NADS - Carolyn, LeaAnn, Beth, Ronnie & SO's. Caro smoked some amazing ribs & chicken, etc., spectacular fireworks were set off, LeaAnn and I kicked ass in Trivial Pursuit, and then Carolyn's partner Anne even took the recliner and let me sleep with Carolyn! Woohoo! (Okay, okay, in the same room with Carolyn.) Anne even cooked bacon, eggs & biscuits for breakfast!

DH and I watched fireworks from our deck last night and grilled out filet mignon. I discovered that I'm small enough for us to snuggle on our old metal glider. Which was nice until we simultaneously  discovered the wasps' nest on the back of it. Yeeeeowch!!! But DH did murder on them all, and the snuggling continued. :)

Happy Independence Day, everybody!

We had A LOT of rain in Indiana yesterday.  We went to the parade first thing in the morning, as we were loading the chairs and pounds of candy that the kids caught from the parade, the rain started coming down.  It didn't stop raining the entire day.  We cooked at at Mom's house, had delicious corn and cheeseburgers.  Couldn't go swimming, couldn't do the carnival thingies in town because not only was it wet, it was very cool (for me and the kids anyway).  8pm it was still raining, so we put our 4 yo to bed, and I promised to take the older kids IF it stopped raining.  It didn't.  They went to bed at 9, and even though it was still raining a good bit, I saw the fireworks in the city we live in being done.  I thought about waking the kids, but I just couldn't bring myself to hang out in 60 degree weather with rain.  Yuck!  I told the kids that we will try to go to the Labor Day fireworks downtown in September.

We still had a great day, just didn't do what we planned.

Glad you had a good day, Yorkie!

We grilled steaks, shot off fireworks...(some of them were legal), and watched my DIL waiting for her to pop. She's due any second now. If nothing tomorrow, they will induce her labor on Tuesday.

we went to an event at the beach.  air show, pirates, drums, pony rides, tons of food, and ofcourse, fireworks.  the weather was beautiful (if a tad too much sun for my ghostly complexion).  my 2 year old son had a great time and we spent way too much money ($4 just for a drink!).

bumped into my old foster-sister and she told me how skinny i looked, lol.  i don't think 'skinny' is very accurate, but maybe someday soon!

Like Lori we had rain all day here in Spring Valley -- and it was really cold for summer.  DH and I had breakfast by the pool in the morning before the overcast sky let loose with all the rain -- I had to wear a sweatshirt (in JULY!).  I'd made a roast in the crockpot 'just in case' the weatherman was right and we couldn't grill out as planned.  So we punted to plan "b" and had a great day (just not the one we planned).  Didn't see any fireworks in the sky -- I guess we'll have to make it up at Labor Day.

We had a pretty calm day. We went to MD to visit Jeff's cousins, who made a great dinner of bbq chicken, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, deviled eggs, and a bunch of sides I didn't eat (corn on the cob, pasta salad, green beans, etc.). And I totally had a slice of CHEESECAKE. We went with Jeff's younger cousin and his girlfriend (21 years old) and Jeff's youngest cousin (11) to see fireworks (at MY insistence - no one else cared whether we saw fireworks or not). We spent about an hour and a half stuck in traffic trying to leve from there, so we play word games in the car. We're dorks - it was fun!

In the early am, hubby and I went to a tea party protest with 1,500 other folks to protest higher taxes and gov't intrusion.  I got my photo snapped by several local papers because I'd made a poster with a quote from Thomas Jefferson.  I did not make the front pages ("whew!") but all the attention made hubby a bit testy like a jealous sibling...he,he,he!  I grilled some great strip steaks on the grill, made home made vadalia onion rings and treated myself to 2 glasses of rhiesling while watching the red neck neighbors shoot off fireworks and waiting for either the cops or the ambulance crew to show up.  These neighbors are notoriously stupid, last fall they set the woods on fire roasting marshmallows!!  So...the combination of alcohol, fire and machismo was irresistable!  Later, son and I laughed ourselves silly watching a TV marathon of dumbest criminals on Tru Tv...and kept looking for the neighbors!  Today, I had an admittedly tender tummy from the wine and the fried onion rings, but oh, it was nice!  The founding fathers would have approved, I'm sure!!
