An update

Thanks to everyone for their responses to my drunk raccoon post.  Tomorrow I will be two weeks out from surgery and I am feeling lots better, but I am just so tired.  I had my first post-op visit last Wednesday and everything looked good. I can really tell my eye brows are higher but right now my lower lids are a little droopy.  I am sure that will get better with time.  The bruising is almost all gone.  The doc took the stitches out of my forehead but I still have staples in my head.  The doc I saw last week -- looked at me and said "you know eventually we will have to do the upper lids as well."  I did not say anything but boy what I was thinking.  Tomorrow I will go back over to Tampa and if he says anything about the upper lids I am going to ask him to go ahead and get it on the schedule.  I have a few more things I would like to get fixed -- but I am getting tired.  You gotta remember I had the TT in February of 08 so I have been at this for a long time.

We leave for Omaha Saturday and I think DH is starting to get a little excited.  I am starting to get that I know I should be doing something -- but I don't know what,  kind of antsy feeling.  We will go this evening for DH to do his surgical clearance with our PCP.

Thanks again for all of the kindness and support you all have extended to me and now to my DH.

I am so jealous of all the work you've been able to have. You are one lucky woman!

I am very excited for your husband, too, and am planning to use him as an example for a friend who is waffling about WLS, but really needs it for her diabetes.

Thanks Kelly.  I think a lot of folks around here are going to be watching him to see how the surgery effects his diabetes.  Rignt now is on beyetta, metformin, symlin and glyburide, and the endocrinologist really wanted him to start on insulin.  I have high hopes for his diabetes to just go away!  I will keep you posted.

As for my plastics -- I will be forever grateful for being given the opportunity to have these surgeries, but I sure wish they would at least consider doing a couple of things at the same time.  This one thing at a time is wearing me out.

That's my friend. She is five years younger than me and they just can't get her blood sugar under control. She won't do it for weight loss, but her ears perked up about the diabetes.

No pressure on your hubby or anything....

Do you have the Buchwald Meta-analysis on diabetes and WLS.  It is a pretty good read.  If you do not have it send me a PM with your email address.

We will see if they really do decide to do the upper lids.  They were suppose to do them this time and the surgeon doing the surgery did not think it was necessary.

Thanks for your good wishes, I will pass them along to "my boy".

Hey, that's what I was just going to say.  Weren't they suppose to do that this time????   Or is "you know eventually we will have to do the upper lids as well."     just doctor talk for *oops, we made a mistake."  Well, either way, atleast you're not swollen from that, too.    I'm glad you are able to see some improvement already!  Tha'ts great.  Can I still call you "Drunken Racoon"  anyhow?  Tell Mr. Red I'll be pulling for him.  Remember, you don't always leave the hospital cured.  I was one that it took a while to happen.  But happen it did!  Yaaaay!
