My ass: A pictorial comparison. And a fair bit of AW rambling.
Thanks, Jill! Yeah, I'm a pear. Which is why I'm a little apprehensive about jeans shopping. It seems that if they fit my enormous hips, they are always WAY too big for my waist. And since it seems like about half of the women in the world are shaped the same way, I don't get why it's so hard to find jeans to fit. Of course as I said, I haven't even tried in a very long time, so maybe the manufacturers have acquired a clue in recent years.
Hear hear! WTF us up with that?? I've always had at least a 15" difference between my waist and hips, and pants ALWAYS gap at the back.
I am happy to say, either the difference isn't QUITE so much anymore, now that I've lost the shelf butt, or the manufacturers are gettng better about recognizing that pears exist and have money to spend on pants that fit. I am astonished to find (at both ends of the spectrum) that the Gloria Vanderbilt jeans sold at Costco (yes, Costco!) are reasonably well cut and are slightly stretchy, so the fit my waist AND hold the jiggly thigh and butt parts in place, AND the Not Your Daughter's Jeans (way too pricy, but -- sometimes you gotta get a pair of jeans that do it for you) at Nordstrom's and other places do some very nice shaping and hugging of the curves.
And yes, your tiny jeans are too big on you now.

haha, I have the exact opposite problem - my pants can be even a bit snug in the waist and yet will be flappin' and hangin' off my butt. I'm more of an apple and definitely carry more of my weight in the front than the back. Being disproportionate is such a *****!
I'm all about the ass meat and that shizz is delish in all the right places, okies?!! As for jeans, you know there's some kick ass ones on sale at Nordies. Not You Daughter's Jeans (I hear they're spanx for the jeans, but not spanxs). They make your ass pop like BAM! Thanks Sia! Wowsers! I checked out that link and love the jeans! But OMG! Sticker shock!! I might consider paying that for jeans at goal, but while I'm still shrinking I think I better contain the damage! LOL
I'm remembering Nordstroms for at-goal shopping! How are they for returns? Do they make it easy?

Girl, the returns are gorgeous! You can order on line, try on the jeans, if you hate it, bring back the receipt and they will refund in a heartbeat. The jeans have been cheaper at Macys. Just something to think about. I live at Old Navy for my cheeks.
