Ever Have One of Those Days When You Don't Feel Like Eating?

I am having one of those today.  I have really never had one of those in my life, except when I was sick...and usually I still wanted to eat then too!

So my plan is to stay hydrated and drink 4-5 protein shakes and eat something if I do feel hungry or like eating.  I just don't see the benefit in forcing myself to EAT if I'm not hungry.

Does this sound like an acceptable way to deal with it?  Suggestions or ideas welcome!

TIA!

I know exactly what you mean.  But, as everyone keeps telling me, even if you're not hungry, your body still needs fuel.  As long as you get in the shakes, I'd say you're fine because you're still getting calories/protein.  But you do need to make sure you get the shakes in.

Lots of love, my dear!

I haven't had a day like this in awhile.  But I can remember one day when I was 5 months post-op, and everything sounded disgusting to me.  I mean everything!  I was getting nauseated from the protein shakes I drank, and the only thing I did was really keep hydrated with water and that was it.  I know that one day of not having any nutrition wasn't really going to do anything major.  I did get back to my roots the next day though!

Yes. the last year 'n a half or so.

Do the protein, water because of my "food with vites, vites with food", I have to eat my still 4-6 meals, but they are very minimal. Just not interested.

There are some vites def. that can cause loss of appetite, but I don't have 'em. LOL

I think this one is more life hitting me upside the head too hard.

Short term loss of appetite is kinda part of the cycle or so it appears in live support groups. Long term like mine presently is a bit odd. I still would say, "Ride it while you've got it", just don't get unhealthy.

I just had blood sucked, so we'll see how well I followed my own rules, huh?

I felt that way several times my first 6 or 7months .. But not anymore! Some days I wish I would feel that way again.. I am getting to where I can really put some food away now.. It kind of scares me some times I think oh no here I go again I am going to gain the weight back.. But so far so good it is not comming back,, I really do love my DS..

Like you said just make sure and stay Hydrated and get your protein W/shakes you should be fine!

Lucy.

I am over 4 years out and have been struggling with that issue.  I am not hungry.  I really don't want to eat and hardly ever even think about it.

Like today, I haven't had any food. none. I have had shakes... I am so NOT hungry!  I will eat a high protein dinner but nothing sounds good.. blech!

I make sure that I get at least 125gms of protein no matter what but I am shooting for 150-175gms per day.

I actually think that we absorb the protein in shakes better, but that is just my opinion.

I am never hungry and am always having to force myself to eat/drink. Shakes have been my salvation.

God no!

There are days when I WISH I wouldn't be hungry, but I can always eat.  Your plan sounds ok, but I think you should include at least one solid food meal a day, just to habituate your stomach to accepting food.  It feels funny at first - everything hit my stomach hard for the first month, and I had to eat really slowly and carefully, waiting for the food to settle.  I can eat anything and everything now, though.  Not a lot, mind you, but whatever.
