DS cholestrol question
Do your math. You absorb about 20 grams of fat for every 100 grams you ingest. If you are paranoid about cholesterol from food, then adjust your diet so you don't ingest high cholesterol fats. (But beware, you are likely to get protein malnutrition if you do this.)
So, look at one of my typical breakfasts, which is two eggs and five strips of bacon. The labels (you DO believe the labels to some degree, yes?) say that I am consuming 520 mg of cholesterol, of which I absorb 20% or 2/10. So I am absorbing, of that 520 mg, 104 mg.
In order to get supposed US RDA of 300 mg cholesterol daily (which I dispute), you would have to take in at LEAST 1500 mg of cholesterol daily.
Have you not yet comprehended the DS math? If it doesn't absorb, it is meaningless. This is not rocket science.

Mine dropped from somewhere around 300 to 140 at the last testing.
I love to put that fact out there when people say I am eating "unhealthy" with all the fat I consume... since I don't absorb 80% of it, and my labs prove the drop, how can the fat be unhealthy for me?

Highest Known Weight = 370# / 59.7 bmi @ 5'6"
Current Weight = 168# / 26.4 bmi : fluctuates 5# either way @ 5'7" / more than 90% EWL
Normal BMI (24.9) = 159#: would have to compromise my muscle mass to get here without plastics, so this is not a goal.
I my DS. Don't go into WLS without knowing ALL of your options: DSFacts.com
My pre-op cholesterol wasn't all that bad for someone with a BMI of 61 - 176. It had peaked at 196 when I was breastfeeding my daughter a year before that (isn't it strange that breastfeeding temporarily raises the mom's cholesterol? It's not harmful, though.)
By six weeks out from DS surgery, my cholesterol was 93! It went up to 123, IIRC, by five months out and was at 121 at one year (or maybe the other way around, it's holding steady in the 120s.)

Like Elizabeth, I wonder how you go to be close to a year post-op without knowing about the malabsorption of fat...and that, combined with your apparently not having lab tests or knowing the results ten months post-op, sends up a giant red flag.
Have you HAD labs? Are you getting a copy of them? Do you know how to read them? A "No" answer to any of these could seriously compromise your health.
Yes, I have had labs drawn and yes I know how to read them. However, I don't think I have had cholesterol checked. I DO know about the malabsorption of fat! I guess I just needed some reassurance that I was not absorbing all the cholesterol in all these foods as well. Heart disease runs very high in my family and I just wanted the reassurance from everyone.

Lipid panels are pretty basic as far as blood work is concerned. If you HAVE had labs and DO know how to read them, your answer should be right in front of you. And, if you are on top of things, you have your pre-op test results so that you can compare.
And "I DO know about the malabsorption of fat! I guess I just needed some reassurance that I was not absorbing all the cholesterol in all these foods as well" doesn't make sense at all. You will malabsorb about 80% of the fat you eat. Good fats, bad fats, it doesn't matter.
