Rate of Loss after DS? Excess Body Weight?

Your actual excess weight is how many pounds you need to lose to get to a normal BMI. That is how the stats compare apples to apples. "Excess weight" is not an arbitrary, self-chosen number.

However, that does not mean that you won't find yourself comfortable and happy at a higher weight than that when all is said and done. Your goal weight can be anything you want it to be.

And, while I roughly followed that percentage chart, it took me a full 24 months to reach a normal BMI. Avoid carbs while you're losing, measure yourself monthly, and don't freak if the scale doesn't move exactly the way you want it. Have faith in your DS.
