If your boyfriend can come within a foot of "popping a stitch" I would find a new boyfriend and fast. I'm trying to imagine what his "equipment" would look like and all I can think of is the movie "Anaconda"!

Sounds like you've met my boyfriend.

How interesting to find the level of judgment and hostility in some of these posts, given that the population in this forum has probably experienced judgment and hostility themselves.

I thought this was a safe place to ask this question, since I've seen some of you discuss bodily functions and other delicate topics related to the DS.

As I hoped most would be able to figure out, the colon and the surgery site are related.  Equally obvious, the question is not just about the surgery site, it's about the effects of the surgery in terms of flatulence, increased frequency of bowel movements, etc.

I am especially appalled by the replies from some of the doctors here.  I hope you treat your patients' questions with more humility and respect.  This goes double for regular posters, some of whom may have been the target of ridicule themselves.

I will continue to look for informative replies to this question.

Then why not just say this instead of insinuating that your boyfriend is Mr. Ed?

Actually, I find the finger-wagging is pretty judgmental, in and of itself.

Nothing in your post indicated that you were implying gas and poop.  And if you hung out around us "regular posters", you'd know that when you want to say something, just say it.  Its hard enough to read minds in person, let alone online.  And in "just saying it", you were saying about your boyfriend "Popping a stitch".  Where, exactly, is this stitch he's worried about popping, if you did not mean what EVERYONE thought you meant.

If you want to imply that we're insensitive, you don't know jack **** about this board.

Peace.  And good luck.

1) "Popping a stitch" = sense of humor.

2) Noticing the judgment and the hostility isn't finger-wagging.  It's simply noticing the judment on this board from some people.

3) I did just say it.

4) "what everyone thought you meant"?  How do you know what everyone thought about my post - without reading the minds of everyone on the board?  I thought you were against mind-reading ...  Perhaps I should add "hypocritical" to "judgmental" and "hostile"?

5) I have been hanging around this board for a long time, reading without registering.  So I do know jack **** about some on this board - and today I know a bit more.

Got peace, got good luck.  Didn't you read about how I get it regular?

If you've been hanging around for a long time, then you also know that you can only control what you post.  You cannot control how others will respond to you or anyone else.  When you talk about "hypocritical", "judgmental", and "hostile";  you are no doubt, referrring to yourself instead of  those you would like to paint with those words.
