Hi ,

I had my surgery yesterday around 3 o clock since then until now i can’t swallow my own saliva i have to spit it out.Last night i had episode of hiccups and every time i do hiccup it felt like i was popping a stitch.

The doctor said it will get better. There are other VSGers  in this hospital but no one is having this problem. The doctor also said it was spasm and he gave me anti acid it also came back-up I cannot keep down a drop of water ,it feels like something is stuck in my throat.OMG hiccups are back again and they are painful

Please give me some advice as you guys also have sleeve part of your DS

Thanks

Shiraz Miz

If you are in the hospital aren't you on IV fluids? Can't the drug for nausea or acid be given to you by IV or injection?

Kid, the point is that you went out of your way to antagonize her before surgery, so she's not likely to help you now. If you don't want anyone's help, then stop asking for it.

Because "he" has lied from day one, of course.

I had a tube in my nose to my stomach for days that took all of the water/saliva back out for me... so a good Dr takes precautions to help you not suffer this.  I didn't get hiccups until about a week post-op, but even then they were painful... try to hold a pillow against your tummy when they come on, it really helped me when I coughed, sneezed, laughed, etc...

hang in there - there will be days that you hate, but they pass. I'm about 3.5 weeks post op,down about 30 lbs and learning a lot each day about what works for me.

good luck!

Request an IV anti-nausea med like Zofran or Phenergan, and ask the surgeon if an anti-spasmodic med would help with the hiccups.

They have given me Anti nausea and anti spasmodic the hiccups have stoped. But i still cant keep my saliva down.
I have to vomit every 20 mins because the salive creates pressure on my chest and it gets really uncomfortable.Every time i vomit i feel like i am going to rupture my staple line.
 Oops.  Someone screwed up...
