Crockpot basics
Please. Queen of cheap here. Someone complimented my Hollister shirt today. Should I tell her I got it from the dime bin at St Vinnie's? LOL
I gave my first bread maker to my son and DIL. The 2nd one, well, I just gave up and freecycled it.
I've upgraded my slow cooker 3 times now. The $2 one was poppy and my friend admired it. Good, didn't like poppy. Then I had almond, loved it. But then I found black, which matches my kitchen so almond went to my friend who was starting to get more and more fast food. I'm not against fast food, but if you're on a budget, not so good. She's learned the magic of meat + moisture + time.
I love garage sales and thrift stores.
Recent score: towel spa. WTH? Yeah, decadent. My a/c takes awhile to get the msg that the sun went down. I usually shower at night, so get out of the shower to have refrigerated air blowing on my warm wet body. Brrr. This little thing cooks the towel so it feels like straight out of the dryer. OMG. YUM. The crazy a/c doesn't scare me now.
Oddly, the heater vent that delivers the a/c does NOT deliver heat in the winter (squinting eyes up at it) and I think this towel spa will be just the thing to teach it a lesson. New in box, church run little thrift store, $5 risked, result, as they say, Priceless.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
ROFLMAO @ towel spa!! I scoured every thrift store in a 100 mile radius of my sis in MT. Best scores were closest, in local senior citizens club shop, two separate visits that involved multiple tops and bottoms each....One visit scored me a London Fog calf length 100% down THICK THICK THICK coat, the other a gorgeous car length black leather jacket....Each as but one of many items, tops and bottoms....SEVEN BUCKS each time.
Other lovely items included NWT Levis and Wrangler jeans for fifty cents each and similar scores..... Anything other than clothing would have cost too much to ship so I restrained myself.
OH did I mention my fabulous cowboy hats? Found Charlie the Hat Guy (who is a well known entity on the fair and rodeo circuit) and got one of his marvelous wool barrel racer hats for thirty five whole dollars including horsehair hatband.....please Google such an item from real hatmakers......Am howling in anticipation of wearing his work in New Jersey, had to mail it very carefully. My faux cowboy hat is purple and studded with rhinestones ROFL. Got mailed inside Charlie's hat cuz it's a little smaller than his work. It'll probably go over better in NJ than the real thing. BWAH.......

Heather,
Get yourself a crockpot. I never had one until I scheduled my surgery. I don't cook since I travel for work and am never home but since I would be home for several weeks post-op, I relied on it to help me cook. They make super easy meals for those earlier months. The meat comes out so juicy that it made it really easy on my belly. Much easier than making any sort of ground meat. You're really only eating a tablespoon or two at a time but you'll be doing that sort of often so it makes it very simple for you.

For those who are Sister In Cheap, go here:
www.freecycle.org Pick the one for your area. Lie in wait, see how things are done. Offer something you're tied of seeing first. Then put a wanted: crock pot of slow cooker
One of my employees dropped hers and I hung a wanted (been giving stuff for years) and 3 ppl responded. By then, 2 others on my staff wanted them, so I gathered all 3 and made everyone happy.
Funny side note. I drove way the heck to the boonies for the huge flowered one and she didn't want me there til 9pm. OK, done. I'm walking thru here the next day and that lady is standing HERE picking up a coffee pot from one of my employees. Boy, did we ever have a good ROTF with that.
You start with a freebie, if you like it and want to color coordinate, buy on sale and freecycle the one you got FC.
Freecycle is national, the purpose is to keep things out of the land fill. There is no chatter, just offered or taken, wanted or received. Trading is not allowed in this area.
However, early on someone asked for a large rice cooker since she hd a family of 5 and had only a 4 cup maker. I had fed a family of teen boys, so I had the mega size (garage sale, need I add) and BTW, was she gonna FC her little one since we are now only two? Well, yes, so technically we traded. I left mine in a bag on the porch, she left hers. Only when we both got home did we discover that we'd traded the exact same brand, but hers was tiny, mine was huge. Another good ROTF was had by some.
BTW, I've also gotten 2 dogs and a person from FC.
