And.....which DS surgeons deserve our business?
I admit to being biased, but the first name on my list: Bill Peters. Scranton PA, 570-969-2527. He risked everything to save my life and I will never, ever forget that. I will also never forget that he walked out of surgery to take my call when I had an emergency. He does not do RNY to DS revisions, but unless you are in that particular category, you need to call him FIRST in my book.
Second preference: Dr. Dave Greenbaum. www.drthin.com or www.duodenalswitchdoc.com . One site is updated, the other isn't, but his current phone number is on both. He's a fine guy and a very fine surgeon. He's a worrywart/mother hen and I love that about him, even though it means that he's too quick to send up flares about "too much weight loss" and not good enough about his supplement regimen.
Add your glowing references here please!

I vote for my Doctor - William Inabnet. He was the head of endocrine surgery at Columbia. He has since gone to Mt. Sinai. He is incredibly skilled, listens and was easy to work with. He even did my second half on New Year's eve to help me with insurance issues. The man is well respect and does guest surgeries of different types around the world.
He does more than DS surgeries being an endocrine specialist.
Peace,
William

I'll second the Inabnet name.... he does all the types of weight loss surgery, and is cautious.... he WILL do a two step if he feels your history/conditions warrants it, but he does the single DS procedure as well. I can't vouch for the office staff at Mt. Sinai, as I don't know them well, but the staff he had at Columbia Pres included (gasp) a dietician that UNDERSTOOD the DS, encouraged protein/fats, and had an appropriate vitamin/blood work list! OH MY!
He's in all the LABS study on weight loss, publishes often, and (most imporatantly) I trust him. Mary C

My surgery was two steps also, but I was a revision. There was some difficulty getting my band out and he did not want to keep me under too long. Everything he did was done lap. Amazing how little scarring there is given all the surgeries I have had. He also seems to have gotten a good dietitian at Mt. Sinai. He is running the program there and was keeping the fees on the dietitian consult down as he realizes insurance doesn't pay.
Peace,
William
P.S. Mary good to hear from you again.
