Maya, do you know anything about the rumor Dr. Jossart is leaving his current practice? Someone posted about it the other day here.

I'd recommend Dr. Teel (Dayton, Ohio) in a heartbeat!  Great surgeon.  He's conservative and really prefers the two stage DS, but, will do it in one stage if you push for it.  Great surgeon, and very personable too!

I just had surgery, but I also did a lot of research before choosing Dr. Gagner and feel he's definitely one of the best DS surgeons out there.

He's in Montreal, Canada. Email: [email protected]

Dr Gagner!
I know, I know   2 parts DS.
I got 2 parts DS. I lost 180lb but still at least 40 lb to go, but do not think it will happen.
I love him, but when I read that 800 lb people got whole DS lap, I am very jelaous.
Anyway, I am very happy with my new life.

Just to clairify, he did my surgery all at once. Maybe he has a reputation for doing more people in 2 parts than other surgeons, I don't know, but I can only speak for myself. Regardless, he is a very skilled surgeon.

I think when you are going to reccomend a surgeon, it is important to think if you would want that person working on your closest family and friends. Even though waking up with half the surgery was my nightmare, I have to say that Dr. Gagner is a genious and if anyone close to me needed any type of surgery that he performs, he would be the man I would refer them to. He has extensive training, was a true pioneer in  his field, he travels the world speaking and performing surgeries, he is well published. He reversed my RNY and gave me the DS sleeve. I had no worries that I would wake up with an ERNY. Dr. Gagner performs all surgery lap, if he didn't, I am sure I would not be ready to go back to work so soon. My recovery from surgery has been amazing. Finally, if you ever need Dr. Gagner, he is only an email away and he often responds within minutes.

Without question, Dr. Crookes at USC in Los Angeles should be on this list.  He is a compassionate, caring physician who is truly interested in his patients.  He loves doing the DS (his words).  However, he is cautious about who he'll do one on.  If a patient comes to him for a DS but doesn't demonstrate that they understand how crucial lifelong vitamin and nutritional management will be, he isn't very excited to perform a procedure that may leave the patient worse off.  However, if the patient knows their stuff, he's on board all the way.  I have heard him say, many times, that he will never perform a surgery on a patient that the patient doesn't want.  So, he'll never push someone into an RNY or VSG if what they want is a DS (barring medical conditions that would be contraindicated with a DS).

His office staff has changed and newer patients are reporting that the new staff is very easy to deal with.  Also, once one becomes a patient of Dr. Crookes, he is very available via email.

I want to add my 2 cents about Rabkin.  He is a wonderful surgeon and has a great bed side manner.  I am sooo happy that he did my DS.  I have been extremely, extremely unsatisfied with the after care provided by his office.  Too bad, but I would use him again in a heartbeat.  In my opinion, he's the BEST!

Can you expand on the issues you've had with his office?  When did this happen?  There have been some changes in staff.  And Rabkin is ALWAYS open to hearing complaints -- and doing something about them.

To me, the aftercare is one of the most important BENEFITS of using PacLap.  If you don't have Rabkin's email address, PM me and I'll give it to you.
