I wish we could give you far better news hon. **** hugs***** Have a good cry, sort your emotions out and then start over with the whole issue. I really hate that so many people are dependend on insurance :-(. I paid cash for my (virgin) DS and would cheerfully have paid a LOT more to get it done. But I know this is rarely an option.
Hang in there and don't rush into anything. We will do our best here to help you. Sometimes our feedback will sound abrupt or harsh. Remember that we do this all day, every day, for no compensation. We see a unique view of the WLS population this way, and so our feedback is free of many restrictions and concerns that you might otherwise encounter in people concerned with sales or marketing.
There are ways to reach your goal. But it might take quite a while to get there. Go slowly and thoughtfully.

Hi Angela,
If you are an RNY to DS revision, there are only a small handful of doctors in the whole world qualified to do that surgery. It is complicated because it involves taking down the pouch, reconfiguring the stomach and then creating the sleeve, in addition to the intestinal rearrangement.
I would only have Rabkin, Keshishian or Greenbaum in the US do this. It will surely involve travel and some expense, but if you really want this, your life is worth it.
Unfortunately, that other procedure sounds like a bunch of bunk. Most of the RNY "fixes" like stomaphyx, ROSE, etc. do not work at all. This sounds like the same type of snake oil BS.
DS really seems to be the only effective revision from RNY, from what I've seen. Best of luck to you!

Thank you so much for this advice. Unfortunately, I don't have the money for the travel to have my desired procedure done with any of those doctors. I am already working from home due to my weight gain and the effects it is having on my body. (I have to have a hip replacement and my knees are shot too). I just want to get my life back. Obviously, the DS is the way to go but it is the hardest to get to. I also, know that the EGD thing is not going to work because NO ONE has ever heard of it. I posted on both the revision and Main board about it and I did not get one response. But guess what? My insurance actually covers it at 100%....strange....so we shall see.....
Oh dear. The kind of pain you suffer will drive you to do a hell of a lot for relief :-(. Please, oh please, take your time and do NOT let ANYTHING drive you to a quick decision. It's very tough to advocate for GOOD pain management, probably harder than a lot of other things since people who want pain relief are all too often condemned as drug addicts....But be strong and do NOT let yourself be rushed into a lesser surgery in hopes of pain relief. After all, you have NO proof that a leser WLS will give you real relief, right? And RNY/ERNY/RNY revision will just send you further down the "no NSAIDS" road.
Be strong and bold and assertive. I have a number of links regarding pain management bookmarked on my other computer.... Please respond to this post and I'll try to post them to you.

You've been given some good advice, but I wanted to add a different perspective here in regards to what is being offered to you. Sclerotherapy does damage to the varicose veins to get rid of them. My mother had this used to get rid of hers. It was terribly painful, and she does have some mild scarring as a result.
Now, take that scarring situation, and apply it to your stomach. Does this sound like a good idea to a rational, thinking person? I mean, my mind immediately goes to possibly scarring up your pouch so much that NO revision of it is possible. You might doom your chances at another surgery and have to live with this situation for the rest of your life. It seems to me that this guy wants to take chances that are outside the norm for this. Since you didn't get any responses from anybody else out there about this procedure, I would venture that you are a guinea pig for him in this instance. Because if it worked, they would be touting it from on high, wouldn't they?
So, be cautious. Think four or five times before proceeding. If all else fails, perhaps you could do a revision with Dr. Greenbaum in 2011 when he starts doing them again after clearing his backlog. Good luck! And hang in there. This has got to be hard on you. Hugs!
